    Hi all,

Hoping someone can help me out with a few questions. I spent a few hours reading through some forums/threads looking for my answers but could find them.

I have a 2009 double cab TRD Sport 4wd 6spd that is stock with the exception of one size up on the tires. Stock tires are 265/65 17 and I put on a set of 265/70 17 General Grabber AT2's. They fit but were rubbing in the front, mostly on the mud flap while turning. I really don't want to remove the mud flaps and needed new shocks anyway (at 140K miles) so I just ordered a set of Bilstein 5100's. I'm hoping the 5100's will help alleviate the rubbing, but not certain they will, but for about $20 more than the 4600's I figured why not grab them.

I'm looking for some advice on what setting to use on the fronts. I had the leaf recall done a few months ago but I'm not too concerned about the leveling look, I'm thinking the higher I go up the more stress on other front end components? I mostly drive on the road with the exception of some Vermont dirt roads and spring mud season. From all that I've read folks are suggesting 1.75 to level out but will .85 work or is 1.75 a better option, maybe prevent other potential rubbing too? Thoughts? Please set me straight on anything I may be misunderstanding.

    Thanks!

I set mine at .85 to level mine. I don't believe that there will be any additional stress on the front end no matter where you set it. I can't speak to whether it will cure the tire rub as I have stock 265/70/16's

OP, did you install your 5100's yet? I have a 2007 TRD Sport 4wd 6spd with 265/75/16 (same as 265/70/17) tires. With stock TRD suspension I had to remove front mudflaps to stop the rubbing, but I don't run stock wheels. (American Racing Mojave 16x8, 4.5bs, 0 offset)

Curious to see what did you decide on. 0.85 or 1.75? And how did it turn out. My stock suspension is old and tired and 5100 seems to be a logical upgrade.

I have an 2011 Offroad dbl cab with stock 3 leaf rears set the fronts at 1.75( 3rd notch up with one up available) w/stock springs with plans of installing add a leafs. Without doing rears the truck sits level to ever so slightly nose high with no load. Wheels are FN wheels/Konig 16" with 4.5" back spacing 0 offset and Cooper AT3 265/75R16 and I was able to retain front mud flaps. I would say do the 1.75". And the ride is perfectly acceptable. If anything the front rides better than the rear. With about a 100lbs in the rear the ride is really good.

Depends on leaf pack and leaf condition.

You guys with 3 leaf packs shouldn't go higher than .85 setting, and depending on condition of that 3 leaf (and your stock coils) you might be nose high at that setting.

Same applies to 4 leaf packs, though they can usually get away with the 1.75 setting. Again, depending on condition of your original suspension you may or may not be nose high at that setting.

Lot of variables here, including the settings - all of them are estimates. I got 1.5" of lift at the .85 setting.
