Rides and handles slightly better than my stock sport suspension. Nothing game changing but definitely seems to corner a little better. Not harsh at all like I’ve seen some say on here in the past.

I have two 18 dcsb and dclb. Both on factory coils and one is on the 4th and the other in the highest 5th setting and both ride great, better than stock. I have driven a dclb on 888 with 5100s and it rides like mine with stock springs. I can't tell a difference between mine and my son's, both ride great. Ride is subjective. I don't see how people can say the ride is harsh. I think my neighbor's pro rides a little softer. Harsh is a bad way of describing the ride it in my opinion. Mine both handle great, on SL rated tires at 30 lbs. I say the ride is great. Bilstein designed the 5100s for use with stock coils, that's the way they advertise it.

Ok forget the subjective ride quality, when you set the clip up, you are preloading your spring, causing it to not have as much down travel as it would on the bottom clip. At the same time, you risk topping out your shock because you’ve raised the spring. Is this correct or is something else happening? The difference is only 2-2.5”....can the shock still top out with this small difference?

i put 1.5” blocks with bilstien 5100 in the back and everytime i went dropped over a speedbump, it sounded like the shock was topping out but not sure. I’ve since removed it and put in a 1” aal and the problem seems gone

Yes. So are the 5100's made for a stock spring? I did say i was asking a serious question.
Edit- ok I didn't see the video you had attached.

Thanks, I’m happy with it. Might switch it up in the future to accommodate a 285 itch but I travel a lot so holding off on that for now.

do you think a -10 offset would be ok with that setup?

I’m parked on an incline, notice the trees in the background. It’s pretty dead on level on level ground. Rather have a flat driveway.

Idk but a lift is not going to be your only means to get 285s. The offset magical number I see is -12.

5100’s are installed. Brand new so I will update in a week if there are
    Any major differences.

I had the fronts and rears done. Stock springs. 1.1” lift setting. The truck is about 1/4” lower in the front vs the rear now. It looks great (will post a pic in daylight)

ride difference: all positive so far. Cornering has less body roll. Small bumps are absorbed significantly better. The truck feels more solid. Slightly stiffer feel but just as comfortable as stock on the street. I have not taken it Offroad yet but I will likely get a chance in the next week or 2.

It’s early yet. All in all I am very happy with the outcome both functionally and aesthetically.

I didn’t lose any comfort on the street. It handles better. I have a 1.1” lift and the truck looks great!

Did you record your stock measurements by any chance?

my measurements were about a 1 3/4” difference front and rear pre install. I didn’t measure but I asked the shop to measure post install and they said it was a little over 1/4” difference now. I will measure to confirm in a week when they settle a little.

I have the same set up, and your description of the ride quality is spot on to my results. I wish these trucks came from the factory with a suspension similar to this.

I too agree, my ride is perfect, handles and is somewhere between the Sport and the Off Road ride quality. I'm on 4th setting and a one inch rear block and mine rides awesome.

Not Bilstein's but directly from the Fox website and obviously the same principal:

Symptoms: Harsh over small bumps but uses full travel

Causes: Initial spring rate or preload too high, or too much compression damping

Solutions: Lower air pressure or install softer springs; reduce compression damping; reduce spring preload
