Bilstein 5100 + spacer = bad idea?

    hey I was cruising through here and got to thinkin, would it be a major no-no is if had billy 5100's set at .85" and decided to throw on 1/4" plate spacers on top of each perch?

    As a general rule, stacking lifts = a big no no.

    My tires are rubbing like a mofo I've been thinking of doing this ,or installing lift springs.
    I'm running 285's set at 2.5.

    There is no problem with it. Many lifts are sold that way. Old Man Emu which is highly respected combines the coil and a top plate spacer to get lift. It even has a trim packer preload spacer to combat the "Taco Lean". That's 3 types of lift on one side.

    The important rule is that you don't pass 3". Look at my hodge podge lift. I have small top plate spacers (1/2" on driver's side and 1/4" on passenger's side), 1.6" Eibach lifting coils, and 5100's set at 0.85". If you add it up, the claimed lift is over 3" but it actually is only 2 3/4".

    First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
    I added 10mm (5/8") spacer plates on top of the upper strut plate of my OME 886s. Had to put in extended length bolts to accommodate them. Also added a 5mm (3/8") spacer under the coil seat on the drivers side strut to help level out the "Taco lean".

    Anyway, I've had no, zero, issues with mine and have put it through some pretty solid off-road use.

    From this post it seems I'm riding the lightning, wooohooo! So I'll be sure to post up some pics when/if my whole front end sheers off :)

    That's what I was thinking. So 5100's @ 2.5 w/ 1/4 top plate should put me at 3" right?

    You could do it but since you'd have so much preload with the 5100's @ 2.5", adding a spacer would only make a harsh ride harsher.

    I'm running the sr5 springs right now and honestly, it a realy soft ride IMO. That's why I was thinking the 1/4 spcr wouldn't make a big diferance.

    On the same note, King coilovers set at "0" and a 1" spacer wouldnt be too bad right? I tried to email down south motor sports and explained to them that I wanted zero preload on the coilovers and they said if I used a spacer Id have to preload the springs anyways which made no sense to me.

    they are either preoaded on the way up or down^ i think spacer repload them down and new springs preload them up if that makes and sense at all.... :( sorry haha

    I think there are quite a few people that run that 1/4" top plate spacer with their lifts.

    It's rubbing on the inner wheel well. I probably just need to do a better job trimming. I've been too busy with work to get at it, by the time I get home it's already dark.
