This is going to be unpopular but wanted to know if anyone has done this and had success. I have bilstein 5100’s with dobinson coils on the zero hitch giving around 2.25 inches of lift, the ride feels nice a firm, minimal body roll, good ride. I also have a 1.5 add a leaf in the back and I have a solid 1.5-2 inch rake. I want to level it out a bit more. Has anyone tried putting compression, bumping the pre load collar up 1 or two notches, (giving an extra 1.1 inches of lift) along with lift springs to achieve closer to 3 inches of lift? I don’t mind a stiff ride and the alignment is great as of now. If anyone out there has tried this let me know.

Moving up the circlip on a lift spring/5100 combo is strongly non-advisable. Usually 1 notch doesn't create issue, but anything greater than that is a perfect recipe for coil bind and damage to the entire system.

OEM rake is about 1", so if you're at 2.25" up front, and have a 1.5" AAL out back you should be close to level. Do you also have a block or something out back?

Just put some bags of rock in the box. It will ride way better and you don't have to mess around with the coils. Leafs and AAL's will sag over time so if you try to level it now (honestly never understood this trend, trucks all should have a rake or else they squat the moment you add weight) it will just be that much harder to fix later. By adding weight in the box you can remove or add as needed to keep whatever rake you want.

Thank yall. Yes I actually don’t mind a little rake, I understand the utility. I’m not sure why the back end is so high. No block in back but even on stock suspension I was sitting at 2 inch rake while most tacomas have a 1 inch. First time lifting a truck so I’ve been researching a lot. I think the aal I got added about 2 plus the 2 in the front and I still have a 2 inch rake. You think 1 extra inch in the back will ruin the front. I know Westcott Desigsns makes a circle preload collar for this exact application allowing for 3 inches of lift with stock springs, I would just move up the existing shock collar up two notches

1st, I wouldn't go past 23" center of hub to fender.

Do you have a taco lean spacer on the driver's side? You could get away with just adding a 3/8" spacer on the driver's side and a 1/4" spacer on the pass side. But also spin the wheel when its off the ground to make sure that you are not getting any CV axle bind. Or 1/4" on both sides.

3/4" Driver's side increase and a 1/2" on pass side.

I have done this many times with no ill effect. But I wouldn't go much more than that bc it can cause issues then.

Measure your down travel in the front too. 1" is horrible, 2" is ok, 3" is much better.

You can also bump one clip, but again, I would check for CV axle binding and for down travel before and after. The bottom clip is really meant for longer aftermarket coils.

Ok so to check cv-axel and down travel I should jack up the truck, check for now resistance with front wheels and measure droop from full weight on front to no weight with it jacked up? I think right now I am for sure getting 3 maybe 4 inches of droop so I have room to spare

There is slight lean on driver side I can look into a 1/4 inch spacer

Stock coils have a left and rt side to compensate for taco lean.

Aftermarket coils are the same and usually need the taco lean spacer. Fancy shocks can be adjusted for it. 5100's typically get the spacer.

Give the aal time to settle it will. Definitely don’t raise the spring seat on the 5100 with lift coil.
