So I just bought a pair of 5100's that came off of a 2010 taco. I'm sitting here looking at the part number..its different than the part number listed for a 2016 taco. whats the difference if any and am I going to have problems with them or no?

New/different valving and a few other things. Call bilstein and talk to them. They are going to give you better answers than most people on here.

People have been running 2nd gen suspension components on their 3rd gens with no reported issues that I can recall. What Jeff said. Also there is a Suspension forum you can post in which may give you more love from the right folks.

Why would you buy 7 year old shocks? Just curious.

If they are 5100s then they could be 7 days old for all we know....just because they were mounted to a '10 doesn't mean anything.

Pretty sure the changes were with clip settings and minor valve changes but as others said Bilistein can give you the true DL.
Also it's not gonna hurt anything to run them as plenty of 3rd gens are doing so

Tires: one size up from stock - 31" - 265/70R17 BFG All Terrains. All Pro Offroad Lola Fox shocks suspension kit. Front has 2.25" lift from AP upper control arms and Fox 2.5 coil-overs. Rear has 1.5" of lift from 3 add-leafs and 2.0 Fox's. Deleting rear overload leaf makes for much nicer ride, with near empty truck. Aluminum skid plate is next, RCI looks like the best.
I have an 09 DCLB with a fiberglass topper. The truck rides great except on washboards, but the top bushing on the rear shock is old and cracked pretty bad. I know I could just replace that but the truck has almost 100k and thought it might be time. I went by the local suspension specialty shop and he priced me at about $900 for the 5100 but also recommend a 2" block for the rear because of the extra weight of my topper and I might set the 5100 for a .85 lift. I know I could save some money doing it myself, but want to make sure it's don right, and in a day. My goal is to get a better off road ride, maybe a little more belly clearance, and not spend more than I need to, but do it right. Just didn't think of adding the block, any thoughts on that set up?
