Yes, maybe better said that the dampers (shocks) control the coil action. Which is important to ride. But they can't make too stiff a spring softer riding either. It's important that the damping rate is appropriate for the spring in use.

Springs lift based on length and stiffness. When you compare a 650 and 700# spring, that means it takes 650# to compress the spring 1", vs 700# for the other. So its more than a matter of 'I have a bumper, I need to add 100# of spring rate" because it's not just static (parked) weight, its also 'live' weight incurred when things are in motion.

Think like this. Sit a 10# iron wt on your foot. Not comfortable, but not too bad, right? Now drop that wt on your foot from waist high. I'll wager your foot reacts differently :D

If you know what you want the truck to do (not just how it looks), give Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road a call and talk through it with her. If her recommendations exceed your current budget, just save more money before making a move.

Even with the slimline?, it's only suppose to add around 40lbs. over stock.

I’m not sure what the differences are between them. I would imagine the 2.7 would be lighter than the 3.5

Marie from headstrong helped me a lot on what I wanted to do. I’m not sure if there is a way to link her here.

Thanks. I talked with her but I thought my spacer lift was still at 3" up front. After measuring, I found that it settled a good 1/2". So I don't need 3" like I asked her for. I'd like to keep the 285s

I'm going to contact her tomorrow. I have my hub to fender #s at the shop, if I can get there, we got 8" of snow today and expected 3-5 tonight and 5-8 tomorrow!

I wish I could get some snow! We didn’t get any this year... just a few ice storms. Bet you’re sick of the cold though. I’ll let you know what mine comes out to be after I get my 887s on Thursday.

To tag someone you use their user name like @Tacocam24

In her specific case, you'd do it like I did in post 21

Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road, because Headstrong Off-Road is the user name.

Lift doesn't have anything to do with being able to fit tires. Your suspension still cycles through the same range of motion as stock. With a lift it just reduces down travel at static height compared to stock.

So I filled up with gas this morning and re-measured my hub to fender on all four corners. LF is 23 3/8. RF is 23 1/2. LR is 23 3/8 but my RR is 24. Would a full tank cause this much difference?

CV angles are what you have when you do not have a Wrangler with a straight axle when you lift!
