I know, I know... thread number 56323 with the same subject title. This one, however, is a bit different. No "how do I..." or "I hear they break..." or any of that. This is more of a "How would you do it?"

    On to my post:
My wife has a 2007 4Runner with 110k miles on it that bounces like crazy. Time for some new shocks. I was planning on replacing hers and putting my desire for 5100's aside for the time being, however, with a little research I found that the 5100's are the same part number for her 4Runner as my Taco. Therefore, I assume my shocks will fit on her 4Runner. :bananadance:

So here's the plan - grab the Billy's all the way around for my truck and give her my stock shocks. Win-win! :D

    Now, onto the questions:
    - Does anyone know if my shocks would not work for her 4Runner?
    - I currently have a case open with Toyota about the driveline vibes (that and the fact that my truck has needed an alignment twice in the 2200 miles that I've owned it). Do I dare swap the shocks out during this process?
    - If I do swap them out, should I have the stealership do the install for me so that I'm not liable for anything, or should I do the install myself?
    - I don't want any questions about my warranty - if I do the install myself, will I have any issue getting warranty work done in the future?
    - I currently have the 3-leaf pack and I could get the 4 leaf TSB done if I wanted to. Do I dare get the 4-leaf TSB done during my issues with the driveline vibe, or should I wait to get that done after?
    - If you recommend getting the 4-leaf TSB done after, would you recommend just throwing the Billy's on at .85 for now and adjusting them to the 1.75 after the new leaf pack, or should I wait to put the Billy's on until I've had the 4-leaf done?

    Thoughts?

    Thanks in advance!

you should be fine on the front, I am just wondering if you can save some effort and use her front coils with the new billies and just put the entire assembly out of your truck and into hers?? would save you taking apart 2 sets of coils.

edit: you had way more questions than I thought, LOL. personally I'd get your truck square before buying anything for it, just gives them an excuse to not warranty or repair the issues.

Personally I would wait. If you are in the middle of a warranty issue/fix, I would wait until all is fixed before going forward on any suspension mods. That way there is no excuses to not fix your truck.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I don't want to give them an excuse to brush my issues off.

I'm just bummed that I'm being held back on mods for my brand new truck because of issues. It's actually kind of embarrassing to tell people "Yea, I have to take my truck to the dealership again" when I've been to the dealership for issues 5 or so times now in less than 2 months of ownership

Don't hold your breath for a TSB leaf pack for your '13, they still have not approved one for the '12s yet. I went as far as opening a case with Toyota, my dealer backed the case, and the regional rep still turned it down.

I'm lucky, my trd sport has them.. no problems so far.

to OP, x2/3 on what everyone else said. don't go changing suspension parts while dealing with a warranty issue.

Reeeeallly? That's interesting... It's the same damn leaf pack and frame!

Worse case scenario I just do an AAL.

Same here, regional rep shot down the tsb for my 2012. They come up with some bullshit saying that they fixed it on the 12's with a new part that has a new part #. Nevermind the fact that that it's still not fixed. All they did was change the part number so the previous tsb wouldn't apply.

Looks like AAL might be the way to go then.

Does anybody know if it would be a big pain in the ass to set the Billy's at .85 and then move it to 1.75 down the road when I'm ready to do an AAL?

    AAL worked well for me.

I would do everything at once.

Yup, makes absolutely no sense. Same crappy pack on the TRD ORs on the 12s and 13s as the 11s. I'm not losing much sleep over being turned down for the TSB pack as it's just a band-aide fix. I plan on ordering the wheeler's HD 3 leaf progressive AAL here very soon to go with 5100s and eibachs. When the factory leafs start to sag I'll go for the wheeler's HD full pack replacement.

x1,000....get your driveline vibes figured out before you start modding.
