Kept the factory coils for now until I upgrade the rear suspension. Everything is OEM except for the 5100's set at top notch in front.

Is there any similar option to the Bilstein 5100, adjustable heights and stock coil?

    Thread revival!!

Man I wish I hadn't seen this. I almost bought those wheels for my 2nd gen, but I went with a different option. I really like those, however; I almost regret not getting them. I ended up with the DX4 Dyno, and I'm powder coating silver...I'm not into the whole black wheel trend.

I realize this is an old thread, but here goes....

I added my rear 1" block, a week after my 2" Bilstein 5100s up front and it looked like a Carolina squat! Now with the 1" block in the rear, it sits perfectly level at 37.5" inches all around at the bottom of my black wheel wells. Stock UCA's and stock coils as per Bilstein recommendations.

If you dont want to ad an inch in the rear, then just set your front 5100s at 1.1" (3rd notch) and it will be level all around.

My 265/75/16 Duratracs looked stuffed in the wheel wells before adding the Lift. Now they look nice, but am changing them out for 33" 255/80/17 pizza cutters.

    Hey Folks,

I’m planning to do this in a couple weeks. What spring compressor did you use?

    Thanks!

I just lifted mine 2" with Bilstein 5100s front and back. They added 2" spacers to the back to keep the rake. My tires are 265 65R/17 KO2s on 17 x 7 wheels w/4 mm offset. I like it! IMG_3927.jpg

What spring compressor tool did you use to replace the shock inside the assembly?

I don't know, since I took mine to a shop where they customize trucks. I do know that they used the stock springs with the new shocks.

You don’t actually need a spring compressor - watch team oil drops tutorial to install them, it basically uses a Jack to support the LCA, loosening the top nut on the strut, and releasing the Jack to decompress the coil. The tutorial was really easy to follow for me and the install went smooth as butter.IMG_3663.jpg4th setting 1.5 inches up front and 1 inch rear block. I think some rake is best because you don’t want it to squat every time you accelerate!

If you decide to use this method, the only thing I can recommend is to mark the alignment cams with a marker before you loosen them so you can make it to the alignment shop safely, I think team oil drop forgot to include that part. GearheadJT also has a good tutorial using the same method but team oil drop shows how to assemble the shocks and includes torque specs

Thank you! Should I put it back where it was? Or is there a specific setting, before I take it to the shop. I don’t have any experience doing an alignment.

Just mark where they are before you loosen, then when you tighten them back up put it to the mark you put to get it where it was before. It should be enough to get you to the alignment shop safely

Sharing my setup that I just got done last week, added bilstein 5100s front and rear. Was really stuck between the 1.1" and 1.55" setting but according to my measurements, a 1.55" would have put it dead even. Glad I went with the 1.55" (4th notch). Rear sits ~1/4" higher than front. Rides wayyyy better than stock.

Hope this helps anyone else out there.

    2016 Tacoma SR5 2WD
    Rear - stock height
    Front - 4th notch, 1.55"
    Stock coils
Tires: 265/75/R16 (I've always ran these on stock height, never rubbed. Wanted to level for a better overall look).
