I don't know much about suspensions but I am looking to get around a 2 inch lift in the front and am thinking about bilstein 5100s and have a question about getting new coils. Do coils lift the truck at all or is that just the adjustable struts. I saw a guy on youtube say he set the bilstein 5100s to the first notch but added 2.5" coils and got a 2.5" lift in the front. Can anyone clear my confusion up.

5100 front struts can lift the front using factory coils, but start to compress the coil the more you adjust the height upwards. Lifting coils will lift the truck and allow the 5100 struts to remain on the lowest setting for the best overall ride and performance. It just depends on how much you want to lift and what you're plans are for the rear.

Blistein 5100s set for 0” lift are paired with OME lift coils by many in TacomaWorld because you can get the lift via longer coil, maintaining OEM spring rate and avoid the increased spring rate from cranking down the OEM springs.

Thanks guys! I think I’ll get the bilsteins, put them at the lowest setting, get a 2 inch OME spring, and a 1.5 add a leaf in the rear? Anything wrong with that?

If you have the cash, get a new leaf pack for the rear. I have the Icon RXT and it was the best $700 I’ve ever put into one of my trucks. There are a lot of other options out there too.

2010 Tacoma 4x4 access cab here, bone stock. Total daily driver. Will the 5100’s alone let me clear 285’s on stock rims without rubbing?

If not, what would be the best “bang for my buck” to make this work? I want the on-road ride to be as good if not a little better. And, I don’t want to have to mess with UCA’s, longer brake lines, etc.

Stick with 265's if you don't want to mess with chopping, trimming, and UCA's.

I can’t decide if this reply was helpful or hurtful. There’s so much good info there, I’m leaning toward helpful.......

exactly what im doing. 5100s with ome 887 coils and a single aal in the rear for a nice 2/1 lift. Cant wait for the firmer ride to better handle what I haul.

It should clear but every trucks different. Just the other day I read about two exact trucks with the exact 285s, and one runbed while the other didn't. Only one way to find out forsure.
