Bilstein 5100's set to the middle setting with 3 inch lift springs

    I have the Bilstein 5100's in front with OME Dakar leafs in the back. I would like to level the truck out and get rid of the slight rake. Would adjusting the Bilsteins to the middle setting of 1.25 with 3 inch lift springs from Eibach do the trick?

    Alot of the experts on the forum would not recommend that considering that the Bilstein's are a "leveling kit" so they are not necesarrily made for the heavier duty springs like the OME 881's or other springs that provide lift.

    Based on the physics, I probably do not think it would be a good idea to have a preload on the bilstein with a eibach or OME spring.

    OME 881s, Dakars, greasable shackles, Nitrocharger sports, extended exhaust hanger, BAMF BPV relocate, Wheeler's extended brake line, rear diff breather mod, swaybar removed, Pilot backup lights, Redline hood struts, 4Runner 5-stars, Hidden Hitch Class III, 7-pin marine-grade wiring
    X2. The Bilstein is designed to work with the 375-lb progressive OEM coil. I'm not sure about Eibachs, but as another example, the OME 880s, 881s, and 882s are 500-lb nonprogressive springs. A lot stouter. The spring provides the lift, not the preloaded shock.

    I am not sure of the max travel of the 5100 set on zero, but you should look into that, because it would be your limiting factor in this application.

    Perhaps someone with more experience will chime in on your options here.

    You both are confirming really what I already knew but when you go on Toytec's website the following statement is a little misleading under the Eibach springs: "Can be used with Bilstein Height adjustable shocks and other lift options for additional lift" The Eibach is a 620 lb 3 inch lift spring so it would seem to not be the correct approach to set the Bilstein at anything other than 0.

    The person I talked to said the Eibach spring with the Bilstein set to 0 would be a good option.

    So is that what you are running now? Eibach 3" coils w/5100s set at 0 up front and dakars w/5100s in the rear? Thats the setup I was looking at. If thats how you have it, how is it working for ya? Any issues?

    It works great and I love the look of the truck. I have taken it off road on some pretty rough stuff and it handled it like a charm. Good flex for off road and a pretty good ride on the highway. I had to extend the hanger for the muffler and I do need to extend the brake line if I intend to do a lot of wheeling in the future. The only issue I have had was during 4 wheeling, I got a little tire rub on the front of the rear wheel flares (real minor). I hear with the OME leafs it repositions the axle an inch or so forward. I think there is a inexpensive kit available to take care of that issue. You might want to consider installing that relocation kit while you are changing the leafs out. I got all of my stuff at toytech since they are local for me. Good luck..
