Ok, so i m very close to purchasing just the 5100s and using them in cohesion with the Tacoma coils. i want to level the truck off.

But first i want to know what the downsides are.
I have seen a few things but would like to make a thread strictly for the negatives.

Does it wear anything faster then it would sitting stock?
    will it compromise my warranty?
any stories , issues or problems you have had with your 5100s?

thanks and sorry If i missed a thread that has been made. i swear i looked.

Changing the geometry in any way from stock will always wear the components slightly faster. That's because they were designed to be at the original angles. It's not like you are going to tear through parts, but you can bet there is a better chance of them wearing out sooner.

Also, leveling the truck will take away the stock rake, changing the driveshaft angle, and could theoretically cause premature wear.

Nothing you do to your truck will "void" the warranty. Your specific warranty claim can be denied if the dealer can prove that the aftermarket part caused the issue you are having.

That being said I have 5100's front and rear and love them.

Depending on what you set them at, ride may be hars. I didn't like my 5100s for that reason, way too stiff for my liking. But everyone has their own definition of "too stiff".

Exactly isnt 5100's the same as a spacer lift? I can understand people supporting them because they have them but arn't they the same if there set at the same height as a spacer?

Ooooh, looky here, the interwebz...would you prefer ignorant speculation, or corporate propaganda? It's all at your fingetips...

The attached doc offers some insight on the design and comparison to other lift products. I'm no pro, I've just been looking into them and thought I would share. Just ordered some...

So I am confused because you have an FJ.

Did you have a 2nd gen, and if so what did you set them at?

I consistenly hear that they are harsher at higher settings. And 1st gen and 2nd gen have different settings...

Yeah I can't tell if he's being sarcastic about the fact that he's posting something created by bilstein marketing, or if he's calling the poster above him an idiot.

Jeez, guys, I'm joking around. I am terribly sarcastic, but mean no harm. :D I'm not calling anyone an idiot. I was trying to provide something helpful. I thought this Billy brochure was about the most helpful, and seemingly factual, info I could find on this product, but I take all marketing material with a grain of salt...would you like to buy a Vornado to quadruple your mileage?

It is just funny because sometimes we all keep asking each other a bunch of questions (myself included), and the answers are often elsewhere.

I am very much still learning about all this stuff.
