Well I'll at least make a 2 second pitch anyway! What if I told you that you could get away with not getting new UCAs unless you really wanted them? Unless you are going to top-clip the 6112s for 2.5" of lift on a 2nd gen you shouldn't need new UCAs, and will still be able to get into alignment. With the money saved I could get you into the newest version 6112/5160s that have the finish coating on them for protection against winter's corrosion (assuming you're in Canada where your little bio thing states).

Icon RXT leaf packs are our most common pairing with the 5160 and they play perfectly well together. Option 1 will yield around 1.8" over stock.

Well, I can add that the icon RXT on stage 1 got me 2.5+, almost 3” empty bed. But… my stock leafs had about 90k miles on them so there’s that. I really like the ride, but the rake is a little steep, even with 6112’s set fairly high.

lol, nope. Extra leafs are still sitting in the garage with my OEM packs. And those are 265/75’s, albeit with only 1 or maybe 2 rotations left in them.

Whoah, 3" is a lot of lift!
Truck looks amazing and almost exactly the setup I'm looking at but boy that's higher than the Icon guide

OK but here's mine on Option 1 with nothing in the bed except some recovery stuff ~ 70 or 75 pounds at most.

That's a really sweep profile stance. Can I ask is those are 285s and if those sliders might help with the weighting? Which are those cuz they're perfect.

285/75R16 (33s) on DX4 wheels with a +10 off set - Since I take her off road I was more focused on not rubbing than on stance or poke - that's why the CMC and viper cut - again just did not want to deal any rubbing off road - probably over kill but relatively inexpensive ($450 for both) so why not? The sliders (Body Armor) plus the steel skid plates all the way back do add significant weight - to compensate for the added weight I had heavy duty coil overs installed (OME 888) with the Bilstein 5100 - the coil overs give it the 2" lift in front. ICON RXT leaf pack (option 1) give it almost 2" lift in the rear which is also running Bilstein 5100.

I did this lift set for 2.5" with the Icon springs at option 3. 285/75r16 KO3s on currently. Had wildpeak A/T4Ws but they caused a radial pull. 2 alignments later then switched tires. Still has some minor issues with random steering wheel wobble (reballanced twice) and a crunch sound going around corners with a bump of some kind but no contact with fender wells that I can see. Getting ready to take it to a different shop.20241020_163019.jpg

Do you have any weight up front with the 650lb springs? I was considering doing this with my stock weight to cut down on preload. I was also considering the eibach pro truck stage 2 as well.

I'm about 99% sure that @Sand_In_My_Taco has at least a stealth front bumper and a winch. On a stock Tacoma you do not want to run a 650 spring. You'll essentially be riding "atop" the spring which is an uncomfortable situation since you'll only capture uptravel stroke on the harshest of hits.

I'll try to keep this as short-winded as possible to avoid confusion, but "preload" in this scenario is essentially a myth. The coil spring is the strongest component in this system. What that means is that when installed on a vehicle, and after the weight of the vehicle is applied, the spring will compress to the same resting length whether you have your shocks set to .5" of lift or 2" of lift.

Now, there is still a ride quality discussion to be had in regard to setting the circlips at 2" vs some other setting. When you put the circlip at 2" what you are doing is saying "I am willing to give up some downtravel in order to gain more ride height". When you move the circlip up and assemble the shock there is no additional preload being applied to the spring, but what you are doing is exposing more shock shaft, and as a result giving your tire less opportunity to maintain contact with the terrain. Any time that a suspension fully unloads that can make for a harsh thud, and then the run back in after catching a bit of air can (and often will) make for a full bottom-out event which always hits hard.

Hopefully that makes a touch of sense anyway, and we're happy to help you get set up over here at Hotshot Offroad. Give us a call at 406-936-0206, or you can always shoot me a message!

I don't have any pics at the moment..
But, running some 6112s and 650s from @memario1214 , JBA HD UCAs, and AllPro Expedition leafs in rear.
I have SSO slimline bumper, winch, sliders, aluminum skids rear bumper with swingout, cap, and toolbox in the bed.
    No sway bar.
I'd say 650s without the extra weight, will be harsh. As they stand now, they're great.

I'm looking to replace my OEM 2017 TRD OR suspension with a 6112/5160 setup, but not really interested in lifting the truck. If it's around (or less than) 1" that's OK for me. Does that seem reasonable/doable with this setup? And will I need anything else? Sorry if this is a silly question, I'm new to all of this.

    Here's where I got mine,
    https://www.suspensionlifts.com/sho...ar-5160-lift-kit-for-2016-2021-toyota-tacoma/

You can pick how much lift or none at all. I'm not sure on the 3rd gen what the factory specs are other than what the link specifies for settings. Sorry..

Going with 1" of lift up front to get rid of OEM rake is perfectly acceptable, and honestly pretty common. I personally prefer a little rake, but Tacomas are one of those platforms that look good perfectly level as well. If you aren't hard at 1" we can always set up a 6112 to be stock, +.4", +.7", etc so it's no trouble at all.

Feel free to give us a call over here at Hotshot Offroad as well and we would be happy to help answer any questions that you have (406-936-0206)!

Thanks for the offer. I'm based in Canada though. I'm also OK with the factory rake (especially since I'm going to be throwing a Super Pacific X1 on the back next year). So would my setup just be both 6112 and 5160 on the lowest ring settings to keep the truck effectively stock height?

    Correct.

I have a semi front bumper, with winch.

It's already borderline too high imo
