I'm looking to do the same install to keep stock height. Did you go with the 2/1 or 3/2 after all ?

Top clip is the best if you want to have around a 2" lift. I did that because I went with a 32" tire.

@almazan312 i think 1/0 or 0/0. Search 6112 clip settings. I had mine set at 11/9 to get just under 2” which yielded 2 1/8” everything stock. I recently adjusted the driver side to clip 10 and could tell the slight difference in less preload/ride quality. It lowered it about a 1/4”. After my sliders/ camper shell if that doesn’t smooth out small bumps then I’ll try 9/8 and might need to to keep any rake. It hasn’t settled within less then 200 miles.
The rear is also a 2” lift with rxt on option 1 /5160.

Hoping the extra appx 350 lbs of the shell and sliders smooths out the ride front and rear

For any of you that put on UCAs, did anyone change out the main long through bolt due to rust or anything like that? I live in New England so obviously we deal with rust. I noticed that the long bolt on the driver side is kind of rusted looking, but the one on the passenger side is nice and shiny steel. I figured if nothing less I could go to McGeorge Toyota and order a set of bolts from there whenever I change out my old oem UCA.

Hoping for a pair of Dirt king ball joints to magically appear on my living room floor and then transform themselves onto my truck with minimal effort and cost. :D

Got my 6112/5160 setup installed at settings 11 and 9 (for Tacoma lean) with RXT leaf packs and Timbren extended bumpstops w/ U bolt flip kit on the rear as well. Didn't take before/after measurements, but it's just over 2" based on previous truck that I know had 2" in the front.

Been installed for about 2 weeks now, and a couple hundred miles, and while it's still early, my first impressions aren't all that positive. Feels like not much down travel and I get a little more "wandering" on road, even with alignment specs w/ in tolerance. Still reserving judgment for it after a few months of break-in and an alignment re-check, but at this point, I much preferred the feeling of my Old Man Emu Nitrocharger coilovers with 887 coils.

Wondering should be cured by Upper control arms. (from what i understand)

Yeah, that's the thinking for me and my mechanic. Couldn't get camber as close to 2 on this truck as my 2017. Did they change the factory upper control arms since then?

Hey guys, just bought a 22 TRD sport and am looking to do a 6112/5160 kit with the headstrong leaf pack. I was wondering if anyone running the 6/5 setting which I believe is 2” and the 1.5” leaf pack lift in the rear added any other parts that I should buy to eliminate driveline vibes. Shims? UCA’s? I am planning on doing the ECGS bushing while the shop has it. I have the CB drop as well. The truck will rarely go off-road, but am looking for a much more comfortable suspension as my current one bounces me all over the place at high speeds on the highway. Any insight would be appreciated!

Max lift? Maybe axle shim. Driveline vibes hit every truck differently, and its a trial-and-error combo of shims and/or CB drop that will solve it.

If you are wanting a "much more comfortable suspension" as you say, I most definitely would not put it on 6/5. I'd drop it down to 4/3 (which is what I wound up doing). Reason being is that every dip in the road will top out the shock and make it ride harsh. You'll have instant buyer's remorse. But if you dropped it down to somewhere in the middle settings, it will ride like a dream.

Thanks for the response, my only fear is that I ordered 32” tires and don’t know if I’ll clear without 2” of lift.

As @Rock Lobster indicated the higher you go on a lift like the 6112 the more you impact downtravel which will have a relationship to your seat-of-the-pants feel in terms of driving comfort. That said, if you absolutely need the lift to clear larger tires or something similar you do what you gotta do as long as you understand the tradeoffs. Going to 6/5 (while it is the top of what the 6112 offers) doesn't automatically lead to a trash ride. Here's what it will do - Your day to day driving experience will be better than what you currently have as you will have the valving characteristics of the new shock which will provide a more planted feel on the road for sure. However, drop off of a curb and you might bang up against the limit of the downtravel which can be a bit jarring (moreso audibly than what you feel). There's many folks who run 6112s and 5100s on top clips and love them even with the downsides. All said, for daily driven vehicles I tend to protect uptravel numbers first. Hitting a dip on the highway, skipping over a speedbump, driving up an entrance apron, hitting dips and whoops, etc all benefit directly from suspension uptravel as the suspension has the opportunity to handle the obstacle before the impact is put into the vehicle body.

I really went down a rabbit hole there...

Vibes - If you do the ECGS bushing and the CB drop that should be sufficient to eliminate most vibes. If you have those items done, and are still fighting vibrations then you can chase those issues down the road, but that's an excellent start.

We're happy to help get you parts as well if you're not dead-set on Headstrong. Either way, please let me know if you have any more questions, and feel free to call should you need anything else.

    A few minor things...
2016 TRD Sport here, 120k miles on the clock.

I installed JBA UCAs, 6112 at the 4th notch, 5160s, OME EL095R leafs, airlift 27000 compressor and firestone airbags all at around 60k.

I was rotating my tires yesterday and noticed some rust (not surface rust) on the drivers side damper so I investigated. The coil had rusted and collapsed on itself a whole coil and is currently digging into the shock body. I have 60k on this setup so I'm not super mad, but I am a bit disappointed honestly.

I don't offroad, I mainly tow my boats. Rear shocks take a bit of abuse, but mostly smooth roads with ~300lbs tongue weight and gear in the bed.

I jacked my truck up by the trailer hitch to let everything decompress (cleaning SQUEAKY leaf pads) and 2 drips of oil came out of both rear shocks.

Turns out that these 5160s are about half an inch longer than the decompressed rear leafs allow on a jack, I'm guessing I decompressed them during use at some point and topped both shocks out (ruining internals and seals).

The rear leafs are STIFF but work for my needs. I'd love to add a steel bumper at some point to make my commute a bit comfier.

Overall, the fronts have been great and keep my truck planted in all situations.

Rears don't provide quite as much damping as I'd like and could definitely use some more stroke length and volume for my liking.

    Overall,

Fronts: much better than stock. 8/10
Rears: better than stock but misused by me. 7/10
Rear leafs: SQUEAKY AS F***, STIFF AS F***. 6.3/10
JBA UCAs: Not adjustable, Exposed ball joint, grease it every 5k and you'll be golden. 8/10

On a related note... I need front shocks/coils and rear dampers. Any suggestions for a 3" lift...

Thanks Colton, I will definitely keep that in mind. I currently have a 2” front spacer 1” rear block installed. Absolutely hate the ride. Really bumming out since it is a new truck. That’s why I’m looking at the new suspension. If I go back to stock, I can’t run these tires. However I might go back to stock for the winter to see if my problems go away, then revisit in the spring.
