You should avoid it, but your truck will do it all the time off road with a lift or no lift. Having a lift or bouncing the truck will shorten the life of the suspension, but 1/2” high in the rear won’t be the end of the world.

Is it ideal? No. Will you get away with it for years? Most likely. The same thing to the guys that put 700# springs on the front. Is it recommended? Nope. Do thousands of guys get away with it for years? Yup. Will it shorten the life of your suspension? Most likely. Does anyone really care? Not many. The ride will be a bit rougher though.

I don’t get all these complaints lol. My E rated STT Pros were plenty quiet and honestly i felt they rode better than the stocks I put back on with factory suspension recently. They were also way better (to me) than the pos KO2s I had in 265 before them. Couldn’t imagine how great it would ride with suspension actually valved correctly for bigger meats and a heavier 3rd gen (5160/6112)

Of course they’re heavier, but any larger MT tire will be, so a big MPG hit should always be expected. It’s not just because it’s E rated... bigger tire without regear = torque multiplication reduced. How much dependent on how big a tire you swap to.

I’ve ran this setup for over 20k miles. Tire wear for me is excellent that is once I was able to get my alignment right with aftermarket UCA’s. I also rotate and balance the tires every 5k miles religiously.

20k so you must like how it rides at those pressures.

    Edit: How much lift?

Well it varies I run anywhere from 32-45psi I change it up periodically.
Rear I have a 3 leaf AAL with the stock overload leaf in place and 5160’s that gave me right under 2”in.
Front I have the 2nd gen TRD/Bilstein 6112 coil overs and that gives me right under 2”in at the front.

The coil overs are designed for the 2nd gen Tacoma but they fit 3rd gen and give me almost 2”in of lift, I also run JBA UCA’s (high caster) in order to get my alignment just right which is at 4.5 degrees of caster. The aftermarket UCA’s are NOT a must on 2”in of lift, you can get away with the stock ones but I just wasn’t happy with the tire wear and the alignment just needed to be a bit better for my liking. By doing that I also had to get a CMC done and get 1”BORA wheel spacers.

Set at 5/6 to fix the Taco lean?

I measured my ground to fender all around on my stock truck today. The driver front was about .25 lower than the pass front (roughly). This was with 3/4 tank of fuel. When it was full I seemed to notice the lean a little more, but I was parked elsewhere that time.

You can also add the @HeadStrong Off-Road 1/4” spacer on the drivers side that’ll take care of the taco lean. The 1/4” will net you 1/2”. I have this installed as well.

im running the 6112/5160 with 275/70/17 E rather ko2's, mpg's arent great but it doesnt bother me. probably averaging 16.5mpg and im pretty heavy footed too. Definitely a stiffer ride but it doesnt bother me.

I've run the 6112/5160 combo with E rated 265/75/16 S/T Maxx on my 2019 AC since the first week of ownership. Zero complaints with ride quality on the street or off road with this combo.

    I ordered 6112/5160.
I am planning on a progressive AAL 1.5 for the rear. Do you have anything in the rear?

do you think I could clear a 285/70-17? -12 offset wheel (RRW R6H)

I plan to install 6112/5160 on a 2016 with complete leaf packs and a C/LT rated tire. E was way too much for my previous 1st gen, and while it was bearable for a spring/summer/fall DD, I regretted it to some degree. With a low-profile bumper and synthetic line winch, is the 650lb coil adequate for the 3rd gen V6 4x4? It seems that the truck is a slightly heavier than the 2nd gen, all things equal, but the engine is smaller so I thought the front axle weight might be the same or less.

What did you do to make them fit? Been looking at some other forums and people are saying I would need 3 inch of lift to fit it.

I originally had 2" spacer on stock OR shocks. No fitment issues whatsoever.

Replaced spacer with 6112 on amx height. Same exact lift but better ride.
