Camburg is advertising a Bilstein 6112 that has 1.5" longer travel than the "standard" Bilstein 6112. They say it's a "Camburg version". Anybody running these extended travel Camburg 6112's?

you need to re-read what camburg is saying.

thats 1.5" more travel compared to the "stock unit" which is true for the stock shocks vs the 5100/6112

No, that is not what they're saying.

They're saying they are selling a "Camburg version of the 6112 that has more travel".

The 5100 is not an extended travel shock. Neither is the 6112. These "Camburg version" shocks are being advertised to have more travel than the standard 6112.

yes they are.... 5100's have right at 1.5in more travel at the wheel vs stock, same with the 6112's.

No where in that picture in the OP does it say 6112 vs 6112.... in fact that picture is a 6112 on the left and a stock SR5 shock on the right.

And infact the camburg site has the SAME part number as bilstine and everyone else for their 6112's

    I think you're misunderstanding.

These are direct quotes from Camburg:
    "These are the Camburg version"
"Yes, we have a Camburg version that has more travel".

I posted the extended/collapsed/travel numbers for the 6112 and was told by Camburg that "these are the Camburg version which has more travel".

Do you have a link to the information that states the 5100 provides more wheel travel?

    http://www.bilsteinus.com/fileadmin/user_upload/user_upload_us/pdfs/Bil_LevShks_WebArticle.pdf

    start reading page 3

    TLDR:

"Bilstein 5100 Series Leveling Shocks are longer than the O.E. shocks by 1/2” to 3/4”, depending on application. Now when the ride height of the vehicle is increased by 2”, the Bilstein 5100 Series Leveling Shocks offer additional droop. By maintaining the factory up-travel, this combines for an increase in overall wheel travel. The result is the lift you’re looking for - along with a great ride."

"Bilstein 5100 Leveling Shocks prevent over-extension of the suspension but do provide an increase in overall wheel travel."

1/2in to 3/4in at the shock is essentially doubled at the wheel due to location of shock on the LCA... so 1-1.5in of extra travel.

o_O That's honestly the first I've heard that the 5100 provides wheel travel.

its really not hard to see when you have one of each of the 5100 and stock shock side by side.... stock shock is shorter. 5100 and 6112's are almost identical in sizes.... hence the "extra 1.5 in of travel"

I don't understand why they're saying they have a "Camburg version that has more travel" when I quoted the 6112 specs.

    THEY NEVER SAID CAMBURG VERSION!!!!

Camburg is simply saying, HEY CHECK OUT THE NEW BILSEIN 6112's we have in stock, they offer extra travel over stock shocks

they might have some special valving from bilstein on their versoin... but i can guarantee they are no longer than a "stock" 6112

Unless they post a side by side and numbers.... its all BS at this point.

It's very misleading. :goingcrazy: I'd be all over this "special edition" 6112 if it were true, but I can't seem to find a definite answer. :notsure:

Yet, the 6112 has almost 3/4" LESS overall travel than a 5100(depending on application). Which puts it right back at the factory travel of the base model shocks lol.

The 4600 is 22.17" long and the 5100 is 22.56 so it's only .39" longer. The 6112 is 22.5" extended so it's only .33" longer than a 4600. The 4600 actually has more overall travel than the 6112?? o_O

    4600
    Collapsed 17.1
    Extended 22.17
    Travel 5.07"

    5100
    collapsed 17.03
    Extended 22.56
    Travel 5.53"

    6112
    Collapsed 17.67
    Extended 22.5
    Travel 4.83"

So I wonder how the "Camburg 6112" compares to these

Any confirmation on this yet? I tried to contact @camburg about this but they never responded. I was hoping my 6112 could be rebuilt at some point and be converted to extended travel and with a heavier spring, ~650lbs.

I'm pretty sure whoever was running Camburg's Instagram account was just talking out of their ass.

Yes, I bumped this post. :jerkoff:
