On my 2nd gen Taco I recently installed Bilstein 6112s, with Bilstein 650# springs, installed at 5th clip position 2.46" height. The result is the suspension is rock hard, and I'm looking at options for adjusting.

My goal is to make a the ride comfortably softer and Maintain close to 2.5" of lift using the 6112s. I also have a pair of the Bilstein 600# springs which came with the purchase. I'm thinking changing to the 600# springs is a given, but I'm worried leaving the clip position at 5 may give me a harsh ride even with the 600# springs.
Someone suggested using 600# springs installed at clip position number 3 (1.59" height gain), with a .5" top plate spacer (1" height gain presumably) which should come out close to my desired 2.5" total lift. Does that seem like the best way to go to you guys? Other suggestions?

Other than ARB compressor under the hood i have no other aftermarket weight added, and no plans to add weight in the near future. The offr
oading I do is typically 8 to 40mph. Lot of time on 4 wheel low.

No harsh ride here 6/5 setting 600lb springs no complaints 650lb springs are for added weight

Set it to 2 or 3 and use the small spacer for sure.

I cant stand 4th or higher, especially with 650 springs.

Honestly height doesnt matter, travel and comfort should be priority and with those shocks you have it covered.

Good to know, then again 3rd gen is a bit heavier wonder if that makes much difference.

I'm starting to realize this. The extra height comes into play because I do a lot of wheeling in 4 wheel low on trails with basketball size rocks jutting out of the ground.

So I ended up installing the 6112s on the 2nd notch. Which for the 2nd gen 4x4 is 1.08" lift + I added a 1/2" top plate spacer which gives 1" of additional height. I had planned on adding 1" of top plate spacers (stacking 2, 1/2" spacers on top of each other. but unfortunately with any additional spacers above the current 1/2" my Freedom Offroad UCAs physically touch my Bilstein 6112 struts at full hang/extension. = ( I'm currently riding at 22.5" wheel center to fender Driver side. 23" passenger.

Glad I caught this thread, I was thinking about going 650# springs on my dcsb 4x. Definitely should not do this, as I read things here. That makes it easier, thank you!

I should also ask, anyone paired up their 6112s with Icon RXT leafs? Specifically stage 2. Curious as to what settings you have. I figure I'm either all the way up, or one click away from it, in order to get level. Spacer on the driver side, for the old taco lean.

Editing to answer my own question - I have a 1/2 inch rake after installing 6112s with 1 clip from the top. It's exactly what I wanted!
