Excuse my naivety but is the 6112 not a coilover? I was under the assumption that it was... :rain:

Sorry, yes by definition it is, my bad. Im referring to threaded body coil overs, they allow more adjust-ability than the 6112s. 6112 have notched grooves for the C-clip that retains the spring perch height. It can be adjusted to 6 different heights.

They're 13"x3" 600# springs. You can find used Icon 13"x3" 650# springs pretty easily.

Copyyyy. Do you guys see any problems running the 6112s at the max height? I have spacers right now and the ride is complete shit - I would hate to get the 6112s max'd out at 2-2.5" with 650-700# coils and have them be extremely stiff as well..

If you move to a 14" coil, compensate for that height increase by lowering the perch the same amount.

Spring perch. It's what the spring sits on that is adjustable using the notches and C clip

After hours of scouring and dreading i wasted money on a 6112/5160 set, this is what i need. I have a honey badger bumper and a winch in the basement and have been told it's too much weight (300lbs?). These coil options will save my arse so i can throw everything on the truck now, correct?

The 650s will help, but I would ask wheelers if the 700# springs will work. 700 would be better for that load.

I was also told these would hold up better also. Adding an extra 50lbs. Might just run at a 650lb and play in between.

So I just installed Lil B bumper and 12k winch. I have the standard 6112 (600# coil). Set at 6th drivers set 5th clip passenger. The bumper/winch combo is around 200 lbs. I haven't measured but obviously I’m sagging. Should I go #650 or #700 and at what clip settings? (Guessing game I know). Id like 2.5” of lift.

6112s CAN use other spring weights. Bilstein actually makes a 650 for them. Dont know why people are saying you're stuck with 600 o_O

I know. I tried ordered the 650 Bilstein ones. Here in Canada it’s a “special order” 6 week lead time.

I’m going to order Eibach ones. Just not sure if I should go with #650/#700. ‍♂️

I debated for a while. I decided to go with 700 when I do order and lower the notch to like 1 or 2. So I can maintain lift height but still not have issues with the extra weight

Assuming your a v6 4x4? 2.5” of lift is a stretch with 3rd gen 6112s, even if you put a 700lb spring with your bumper and winch. You’d probably just be at 2” up front or just a tad over. They’re only rated for 2” max at 6/5 setting. Eibach 650 and 700 are both 14” in length and I’m 99% sure it’s the same for “bilstein” branded but most likely rebranded eibachs lol.

I had 650 on my 6112s at 6/5 with 60lbs up front and had about 2 1/8” of lift up front.

    Sounds like #700 6th/5th notch

    Good day TW,

New here need some input. I am going with Bilstein 6112/5160.

I already run a 285/70-17 on 2” Ready Lift Spacer and 2” blocks. Not digging all the space in the wheel well. I wanted a slight rake but the ready life “level” actually makes a poopy diaper look. Therefore I put 2 inch block in the rear and NOW want a better ride (only have 900 miles haha).

Facts I have found and maybe someone could help confirm:
    -Stock coils are ~700#
-Wheelers offers Bilstein 6112 with 700# king coils (Cool BLUE)
I imagine if you run the Bilstein 6112 with 600# coils it will work flawlessly- but it will sag a bit due to the coils # reduction.

any cons to running 700# Kings on 6112 (from wheelers pre assembled) without additional weight up front?

Bilstein coils are 14" 600#, for zero extra weight in the front, stick with that. If you want slight extra height, put spring perches all the way to the highest setting, and use a 1/4" top plate spacer on the driver side to correct the Taco lean. The King 14" 700# springs will be too much for your truck. I suggest for the rear either a 3 leaf AAL or a full leaf pack replacement to properly match the front and to get rid of the blocks.

Thanks for the reply. I don’t want to get crazy with the rear. I don’t mind the factory rake/ level look. I was considering a Ebach 1” block... WheelersOR offers a 1.5” AAL option. Anyone have any insight on that?

    both run under $100
