Hey all, I was totally sold on buying some 6112's until the dealship told me I really should do a differential drop up front. Anyone running the 6112's with no differential drop? Is it something I really should be doing?

Majority of trucks that are lifted on here don't have a diff drop, mine included. Its up to you but consider the 6112s have a max lift of 2" I think you'll be fine. ;)

That's what I was thinking but this is my first shot at any sort of moding a truck and wanted to make sure I don't mess anything up

Its fine really. Also consider installing them yourself, its fairly easy and since you mentioned the word dealership you could be saving quite a bit by doing so.

Right they were my 3rd call, I was pricing out a few before them. I would attempt the install myself but after my experience replacing the struts on my 01... it's worth the money. I'll tackle the rear but not the front

Sweet, I did find the 3rd Gen 6112's but I had not seen that thread yet, super helpful.
As far as doing the AAL's in the rear I think I'd pay for that too, I was more referring to just the shocks :). I would love to do it all myself but don't have access to all the proper tools

Are you carrying a ton of weight up front or something? I've seen plenty of people saying that even after settling they are getting more than 2.5 or 3.

Lifting via pre loading springs is a lousy idea. It reduces coil travel and risks binding in off road situations.

Select the correct springs needed to accomplish your goals, then the correct dampers to control them.

It's a $35k truck. Don't wimp out on suspension mods.

Call Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road and get the right stuff.

True. Anyone know if there is a longer spring to use with the 6112s (for 3rd or 2nd gen) to achieve lift and keep the 6112 set at zero?

Huh? That's what coilovers are for lifting applications - you adjust height by preloading springs.
