Mine was a rare 92 With the 16v 2.0l and the really weird bright green color. Factory BBS wheels recaro seats etc. According to the building #s mine was 1 of 4500 made. RIP it went to the salvage yard gods after an accident. I had that thing on rails. Raced it all over from Englishtown to Daytona. Waterfest and the VW crowd were autocrossing before it was cool or a thing. VIR was probably my favorite track.

I have many water cooled and air cooled Vw's. Favorite was 85 Scirocco with oettinger 2.2L 16v.

Nice i switched mine to elec. fuel injection from the Bosch mechanical then bumped the compression up more from the stock 13.5 as well as other engine mods. complete exhaust nuespeed bracing custom cage meeting scca/nasa sanctioning bodies. It was a machine I love them one of the only vehicles I truly miss and want again but finding one like mine is a rare bird and costs are up close to what I paid for my truck.

I’ve posted this before but I’ll show it again because suspension porn. I had these on my truck for a day about a year ago. Blistein was testing lift heights at different settings and I did not get to drive with them on. They let me back for some pics. They sure did look badass.

I know, interesting, right? The rears suggested that come with the 8112 are $$$, and for 1.5" lift. bilstien doesnt make a stem top remote rez rear in 16-27"

Lol kings do hold there value well...mostly because “some people” are truly fanboyz !
I’ll run my Fox next to any kings.
But I’m also sure, while I know these Bilstiens are going to be great...I’m not paying that coin when for the same I’m running my Fox.
So I guess that make me a Fox fan ???

I think the only stem top/RR they make is the 5160. Not sure of the sizing on it.
Good question for Marie. She would have the answer.

Kings hold their value because they can be rebuilt. And they run great. However these rear Bilstiens i mentioned above to compliment the 6112s/8112s are <half the price, run 3x as long as king/fox/icon suggested 30k service intervals ( around 80k+) at which point you just toss and replace them, thus having no down time while your shocks are being sent off for a rebuild. This idea, anyway, was mentioned by @DVexile at some point .

I know this is a 8112 thread but the above combo with 6112s would be sub 1k

All bilsteins for that matter can be rebuilt same with Icon and Fox. In the litterature for the 8112 it says rebuildable so???? You guys do realize Bilstein has had the 8100 series for a while just not a specific set up for the tacoma but you could call them and have them made for your application same as you can with icon and fox. I looked at online pricing and most king front 2.5 remote resi coilovers are not that far off in price compared to these bilsteins.

That 5165 looks interesting would need custom mounts (no biggie) it's like the b110 but in the 5160.

Yes Sorry for derailing the thread I just was looking for an inexpensive rear to compliment not only the 6112/8112, but the 3" lift of dakars. At 300$/ pair vs. Rebuild cost, time off truck, these rears are disposable rather than rebuildable in my opinion. Mounts were noted in my og post.

Curious to see what people think of these once they start riding around given that they are more expensive than Kings. I saw a bunch of people who bought those OME BP-51s say they weren't too thrilled with the product after purchase.

They are rebuildable as well. I think I am the one lowly guy here defending Bilstein. They aren't run on the top racing series' around the world for no reason. If you want go on their website you can look up by the different series etc. and even custom order lengths with different ends within those series.
