They're a monotube Shock so either way is fine. I run them boots up

Thanks man, seems like a lot of people do that, but it's technically upside down right?

"Technically" yes. But the design of the Shock allows you to put them in either side up. Pick which way you think looks best and rock it

I don't even have my 5100's anymore. I got some rear Icon 2.0 smooth body emulsion shocks. They install only one way. Shock body up.

I used Blistein 5100s, OME 881s and a Wheelers 3 Leaf Progressive AAL. I put 265/75/R16 KO2s on with 3.5" Backspacing. This setup was perfect for me, rides great and was a huge improvement over my 258,000 mile old shocks. It gave me 2"-2.5" of lift (not including extra height from taller tires). Exact dimensions are here.

I put mine in boot down. Not only did Wheelers recommend that I install them that way, in my mind that the only was the drainage holes in the boot will actually work!

All my suspension is shot. I was going to get a new set of leafs for the rear but due to unexpected events and expenses, (locked up torque converter in my daily driver, $4000 repair) I'm debating on doing an AAL and shocks in the rear. I bought a set of Icon coilovers for the front, so that's handled. Since my Tacoma is now my daily driver, I need to address my suspension issue because she is bouncing all over the road. Do yall think its worth my time to do the AAL for the time being?

If you're in a pinch and need to lift the rear to even it out with the front after you install your Icons, I see nothing wrong with just doing an AAL for the time being. They're relatively cheap and easy to install, and it'll get you by until you can afford to acquire the rear setup you really want.

That is, depending on how shot your current leafs are anyway...if they're really bad then a single AAL might not do much. Mine were in decent shape when I added a 3 leaf AALs to the rear, brought it up a couple inches and restored the proper shape to the leaf pack. Eventually I'm going to go with all new leafs as well.
