Bilstein Production Issues

I ordered a 6112/5160 kit from Shock Surplus a couple weeks ago, in May. Support claims to have sent a notice out about Bilstein production delays, but I can't find anything in my inbox or junk folder. In chat, they said...

"Bilstein has had production issues and we don't expect to see these until August at this time. We have been transitioning customers over to different options... We had fully expected to receive the 6112s already. However, Bilstein has had production delays. Bilstein uses a lower busing directly from Toyota, and once they started they competed the production process for the 6112, none of the lower bushings met there QC process. This means they need to get new bushings from Toyota ( and a lot of bushings now) which has now delayed the shipments of these to us and all retailers nationwide."

Has anyone else heard about this? I'm wondering if "all retailers nationwide" is true, or if I should consider ordering them from somewhere else.

 

Maybe @memario1214 has heard. Pretty sure his shop sells a lot of those kits

Yeah, we've heard the same deal from Bilstein too

 

A few if my recent customers are having trouble finding 6112's as well. Been scavaging ebay with some luck.

 

Thanks everyone for the vendor/buyer insights. I feel more comfortable adjusting my expectations now.

 

I was researching and ready to buy a front and rear set for my 23 Tacoma, guess I'll put that on the back burner for a few month.

 

You should look into the other manufacturers that are comparable too. This lack of this specific shock probably won't be fixed in a few months, I really hope it will but the odds are against us on this one

 

The Dobinson MRR kit looks really good but more expensive than the 6110/combo.

 

With the availability of 5100/5160, would it be worth it to buy this combo and have new shocks for the time we are waiting for the 6112 to show up, then just swap out the front with the 6112? The way its going it could be a present under the xmas tree

 

So we can expect a 6 month wait so the backlog can be fulfilled? people haven't stopped ordering them
