I was just saying that it is hard to judge on the internet with various pack buildups. Best to measure what you have.

When I swapped packs, I never thought about the thickness affecting the shock sizing. Kinda obvious, but that's not how I roll. Hahaha!

Ah! I get you. I had that fun on my first attempt messing with a weaksauce spring compressor. I successfully attacked the fronts the next day using the jack method.

Depending on the shock, you can pull the bottom mount and compress it fully to measure. Getting some easy flex in is fun though.

    You're welcome!

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!
Many thanks to @memario1214 and @tonered. :hattip:

I've read the suspension stickies several times and countless suspension threads, but it just never congealed in my brain. From what I learned from this thread, I have a shot at putting something together such that I can convince myself I have a clue as to what I'm doing.

Oddly enough, the most helpful tidbit was knowing that exceeding the maximum extension of the shock isn't a problem. Somehow, during my putzing (mall-crawlin', whatever), I've managed to get some air under the rear wheels a few times and thought to myself "That can't be good.". I'll look into making best use of suspension travel, but won't sweat it if I fall short of optimal.

Yeah suspension chatter shouldn't be, but it finds a way to get complicated often. :bananadead: That's why we prefer to offer kits/bundles that we know play nice together. I would much rather someone come up and say "here is how I use my vehicle, here is what I want it to do, and here is my budget" as opposed to "I want to use part A on my truck, my budget is $12, and when we're done I need to be able to hit speed bumps at 90 and not feel them".

    Gross exaggeration of course! :D

Colton, side by side (uncompressed) do they measure the same size out of the box?

And what about girth, is the 5125 also wider?

At rest (extended) length, the 5100 is 22.94" whereas the 5125 is 24.41".

Diameter of the shocks is identical. The 5125 is just longer, and has slightly different valving.

Thanks for the quick reply Colton. If I lived in the US, I would have ordered them from you. :spending:

Care to comment of what the difference in valving means to the consumer?

Is it due to whether you have weight in the rear, or not?

Does it lift the rear, being approx 1 1/2 " longer?
