Hey I'm new to this forum and plan on getting my first step in making a badass Tacoma. I've been looking online for some kind of lift or just a smoother suspension kit for my '01 since its kinda getting old now. does anyone have any advice or a novice like me. I've looked at fox 2.0's Bilstein 6112 paired with 5100, or should I get a full set of old man emus?? Also just a side note if it helps I'm looking for more just on and off roading, small trails, ect. and also just probably at most a 2" lift. So if there is any suggestions or what yall have done that would be appreciated.

    Many Thanks

idk what "on and off roading" is but it sounds to me like nothing too crazy and just fire roads and minor trails. i don't desire to rock climb or anything and just want to be capable of heading down to some remote places in baja without worrying as well as some camp spots. i got the billies 5100 on all 4 corners with OME 881 coils and headstrongs AAL and i'm psyched on it. lifted it about 2 inches (no numbers here sorry just an eye test). for me it came down to cost efficiency; why spend more money on the flashy stuff if the cheaper sets will suit my needs.

To answer your question. I have been running Bilstein 5100s on all 4 corners for a couple years now.

At first I was running stock coils with the Bilstiens set at the 2nd highest preload setting... That sucked. But then I set the preload at the lowest setting with ToyTec 620 pound coils and I liked it. It also gave me a bit more lift. As I added weight (bumper/winch/extra battery) it rode even better, but I also lost a little lift with tha added weight.

For the back. I started with a Wheelers Offroad 1.5 inch Add a Leaf. When I added lift in the front with the ToyTecs in front, I also added a middle leaf spring from a 5 lug Tacoma... So I am now running my leaf pack + an extra leaf from the 5 lug + the Wheelers Offroad AAL.

I carry quite a bit of weight in the bed, and the leafs really hold up to the every day loads... as well as my full camping load out.
