I have a 2016 Tacoma DBL cab, TRD OR.

I bought some Bilsteins 5100 3rd generation, for front and back.
I assume I would set the front Bilsteins to the 2nd notch = 0.65", to level out my truck?

For reference I rarely go-off road except sand and my goal of sorts is a better ride via the Bilsteins and at best a 1" lift with leveling.
Any input and /or real life experience greatly appreciated!

    A few....
I put 5100 on my 3rd gen truck on the second notch and it was slightly raked still. But, I added a camper shell and it is now perfectly level with no lean.

The ride quality is very good, and is better than the stock. Shoot me a message if you have any questions on it.

This is on the OR? I really like the ride of the bilstiens that come on the OR and my only concern has been that the 5100 would have a harsher ride in comparison. Although, I think I read that the 5100 and the OE bilstiens have the same damping. Don't hold me to that.

I was considering the 5100 set on the 3rd for ~1in. If 1in additional on the front end is what Toyota has for the Pro, then that's plenty for me as I assume that will avoid any potential alignment and vibe issues.

How much did the 2nd notch raise your truck. I'm wanting mine up about 1.5 or so and wondering what notch I would use.

I've thought about the 5100's on my TRDOR as well because I don't like the stock suspension on the road. It's pretty soft and when it's windy I feel like it gets pushed around too much, off road it's actually not bad at all for stock. I've read somewhere that the 5100's are basically the same as the 4600's that come on the truck with the main difference is that the 5100's allow for height adjustment. I would look into the Bilstein 6112 & 5160 https://bilsteinlifts.com/shop/toyo...o5kXPl2d6ZAmxuYS0Jd5ufNARfStlZAW9oaAvzc8P8HAQ

I got the 3rd gen Bilsteins....bigger shocks, way better ride that you can feel immediately.
    See my truck about Bilsteins:

I have the 3rd gen Bilsteins on my 2016 TRD OR....they are larger diameter, way better ride, smoother, much better dampening:

All factory, just swapped out shocks.
The ride is impressive. I have a Honda Accord Crosstour (crossover SUV) which is the largest Accord made....that thing rides super smooth......now my Taco rides smoother than that....that's how much it improves the ride....for reference.
If you want to do a 2"+ lift then you go and start swapping out coils and leafs etc.

Thanks for the info! I'd either just want to level it out or maybe 1" high in the front than the rear. Not like a Brocoma status though

My understanding is that The 5100s and 4600s share the same 46 mm bore with matching digressing valving.

Thanks for sharing as this is right in the wheelhouse of what I want. My TRD Sport is a daily driver with a monthly light to mid-light off road trip planned so I love your feedback on how the Bilsteins improve the ride. I do want to do about 2" of level lift though. I am curious about your comments on coils and such as Bilstein's site has a $400 shock lift that says 0-2" front and 0-1" rear. Seems like a 2"f/1"r setting would give the desired lift (for tire clearance) AND level the truck perfectly using stock coils. Am I misunderstanding something in your opinion?

Option two would be the 5100's up front at 2" (setting 5 I believe) with a small spacer to get to about 2.5" and run an AAL back for about 1.5" and again, a theoretically level ride with enough room for some bigger tires. Thoughts on that as you obviously did lots of homework as well? Thanks!

Reading what you wrote seems like it would work. But not sure. Marie at Headstrong can definitely help.
She sent me this link before:

I would talk to her via phone since she was extremely helpful.

So I'd like to keep some factory rake but want to get into lifting in stages for financial reasons mainly. Since you went 5100x4 only I'm thinking about doing the same but keep the front factory coil and add a progressive 3 leaf to the back. The 3 leaf should get no more than 2". My truck is also a LB which might decrease lift height a bit vs a SB. I'm thinking the 3 leaf in rear, stock front coil 5100x4 with fronts set to .65. I need to really do a serious hub to fender measurement. A quick measure showed only a 1/2" rake. Anyone done this before on their DCLB?

hello looking over your post and just wanted to chime in....been looking at the 6112 and 5160 and been researching for awhile now and seems that if you go past notch 3 of the lift that you will need to change out your Upper Control Arms (UAC's). This is necessary to do wheel alignment on the third gen. I'm looking at getting the 6112 with Total chaos uca's swap and 5160 with dakar pack in the rear. needing the dakar for camper shell. Let me know on your progress and if you buy the set...interested to see how it turns out with you. Good luck

Ive got two buddies with this setup but they are using FOX w/Dakar and TC UCA. One of one those guys flattened out a single AAL pulling a single axle boat.
