I'm planning on pairing my Bilstein 6112's with a 1/2 inch top plate spacer to get about 2.75 inch lift up front on my Tacoma. I know there's a lot of controversy about spacers on these forums but I also hear many people saying they have used spacers on their Tacoma for 7+ years with no issues. Wondering if there's anyone out there who has paired 5100's or 6112's (because I believe they both have the same extended length) with a top plate spacer for slightly more lift than that can speak from experience. I have a slight worry about things like too much droop and bad CV angles but it is only a small spacer and I have aftermarket UCA's and a dif drop ready. Thanks everyone

I'd say the smaller the better, but I know quite a few people add them to compensate for the taco lean. Especially with that particular set up

I’ve read the diff drop doesn’t help on 3rd gens.

The fins on my inner cv are as close together as I’d feel comfortable, and I have 2” of light up front.

Just get bigger tires? Going up 1” will get you the 1/2 clearance.

Yea I meant to purchase 1/4 inch thick spacers but there was a bit of confusion but I'm hoping this will still be ok.

I know what you mean, 1/4" spacer for 1/2" lift. You're good man

Yeah I got 285/70-17's but I'm lifting the rear 2 inches too and I was hoping to get the truck level

I did 6112’s up front on 4th notch with Bilstein 650lb coils which give you an extra 1/2 inch. Camburg UCA’s. 5160’s in the rear. Has to also do the 1/4” spacer up front for the taco lean didn’t want to correct with the 6112’s. I would do the 650lb coils over a top spacer for the extra 1/2”. I get a lot of questions on my set up when I am out and about.

Did you ever have any issues with the lift? like for example the needle bearing?

I decided not to add spacers to my Taco 6112 because of what it felt like on my FJ.

I ended up removing spacers because a OME kit felt terrible on road. Removing the spacer made the ride much more comfortable.

I know it does not answer your direct question.

nada no issues as of yet, but I only have about 1,200 miles on the new suspension.

Thanks for the info! But those must have been coil spring spacers right? I have top hat spacers and I don't see how they could influenced ride quality that much.

Thanks, from what I've read it seems that coil spring spacers mostly throw off ride quality and top hat spacers mainly throw off stuff like CV angles but I'm hoping a 1/2 inch spacer paired with a 22.5 inch shock won't be too much.

I know this is an old thread but..... I am putting 6112 along with SPC UCA on my 09 DCSB.. The million dollar question? I have the 6112 set at #3 Should I add a spacer to the drivers side?

    Appreciate the info.

Go measure both sides right now. If they're the same, don't. If they're different, do

There is about 1/2” difference. Not sure it’s worth it.
    Thanks.

That's the exact difference the spacer fixes. That is the taco lean. It's like $30-50 for the spacer (maybe less) and you'll already have everything apart

Hard top camper...many more to add+
Just wondering…the 6112’s. …each shock are adjustable in height .Shock Surplus…mention you can raise one side shock higher to compensate for the lean? Like 6/5. Or 5/4 ….driver side is usually one notch higher?

How does it ride on the street compared to stock, I'm sure it's stiffer, but just wondering how you would describe it....wanting to do the same thing...also what size tires can I fit with a stock off road rims I really prefer not to trim anything...
