So I'm looking at the new Bilstien 6112 shock and i see it comes with springs as well, and I'm wondering if i wanted to get 2-2.5" of lift would that decrease ride quality if the spring seat is raised? If it doesn't i hope to be one of the few on here with the new shocks.

Spring is included. I think they did a lot of the testing using the higher settings in anticipation of people wanting a few inches of lift. Shouldn't be too harsh.

You are preloading the spring without changing the valving according to how loaded it will be. Short answer to this question is yes, it will change ride quality.

That being said, handling characteristics will change and give you better steering and decreased roll in higher lift (preloaded spring) conditions.

It will change the ride quality, but that doesnt mean it will make it worse. Based on all the reviews of the 4runner system over on 4runners.com & T4R, the ride is much improved over stock and able to handle bumps in the road much better while providing a more compliant highway ride.

I am on the 5th setting and ride is fine. I wouldn't be worried and the 4th should get you were you want to be.

    Yes.
Not to thread jack from the original question, but I'm wondering what shocks y'all are running in the rear with the 6112's up front? links to sources if at all possible are appreciated!

    Thanks! :)

I have 5100 stock springs. I recommend an aal or new pack with more lift. Call total automotive performance. 888.244.6166. They can get you springs, aal, shocks and help you to make sure all the lengths are correct for the application.
