I agree. Mice, rats, birds, squirrels etc are very fast moving and can go great distances before the antifreeze started to take effect and kill them. Meaning they can be in your neighbors yard long before they are dead and your neighbors dog eats it or plays with it and then he is contaminated and then you've killed little bobby joe's or sally's beloved animal plus a wonderful dog that would have never hurt anyone and would probably have been your best friend as well.

Once, in Malaysia, I discussed eating mores with a Chinese guy. Malays are Muslim and have many restrictions. The Chinese of Malaysia are Buddhist and not subject to those restrictions.

Anyway, I asked about what kinds creatures the Chinese are allowed to eat and what they are not.

He said Chinese can eat any creature as long as the animal's back faces the sun. I thought awhile and said - "wait a minute - all animal's backs face the sun". He thought for a while and said "Yeah. Except Monkeys". A couple seconds later he added: "But we eat them too".

I don't have one, but they can be a nice way to keep snow and other crap off your car.

He probably put a bird feeder up there because he didn't have room for a monkey cage.

There is nothing more I hate on this earth than rats. I could understand not keeping a level head and doing something stupid like this. Trapping is probably the best way and if you're a humanitarian you can consider live trapping and re-releasing them. I wouldn't do that though, one less rat is a good thing.

dude. just get rid of the feeder plain and simple. if you're gonna put out food to feed birds then have to put out poison to kill others just to get the job done then...whats the point?
There's no guarantee that other animals are not going to get to the anti-freeze, just pull the feeder genius.

I never understood bird feeders. We make houses to keep animals OUT. That is the whole point of a house. Animals and weather are to STAY OUT. So now let's put a bird feeder up so we can hopefully draw more animals to the vicinity of the house. Insanity.

The only good reason for luring animals towards your house is to shoot them dead.

After careful examination of the feces, it looks like it belongs to a squirrel which is basically a bushy tailed rat and this area is loaded with them. Another reason for the drop in the song bird population.
Don't like to use poison, but when you run out of options, that's what I have to go with.
Had squirrels in my attic a few years back. They chewed on the wiring and chewed completely through the gyprock in one place. Tried trapping them, no good. There was no food source to remove. I had to poison them before they short circuited the wiring in the attic. Now I have squirrels that want to nest in my Taco.
My past experience indicates what will and won't work. Unless some of my critics can come up with something that works, I'm sticking to my plan. Yes, there might be a coyote or crow that will get sick eating a poisoned squirrel and I don't feel good about that but I will feel a lot worse if I have to shell out mega bucks to get my truck wiring replaced.
There are so many coyotes in this area that they've eaten almost all the raccoons. Years ago I used to see raccoons every few days, after the coyotes moved in, you don't see a raccoon more than once a year. If coyotes could only be taught to catch squirrels. The coyotes are such a threat to pets that people don't let their cats out and if the dogs are outside, they are on a leash. It's unlikely a dog owner will allow their dog to eat a dead squirrel
River Rat 69, I am not Oz, he probably lives within a 15 km (10 mile) radius.
