Just got back from Mindo and now i have wifi in the apartment so I can upload pictures much easier! Got about 1500 photos mostly of birds, so it'll take some sorting, but I'll gradually upload them.
Interestingly, the Violetear family is still in the courtyard! I figured for sure the young would've left by now.
I haven't counted the number of species I saw during the bird banding trip but it was somewhere around 150.

Hahahaha, they're coming right now! Uploading a batch to flickr.

Edit: For you impatient folk out there... :p
These are just from the first day in Mindo itself. We walked over to a house that had a bunch of hummingbird feeders up and the activity was absolutely insane! There were at least 25 individual hummingbirds swarming around in about a 20x40m area! It's too bad about the low-light noise, though. :( The photos looked fine on my computer but are much noisier on flickr, so I'll up the noise reduction in LR.
On the way there we spotted a female Lemon-rumped Tanager feeding a young bird that was much larger...we believe it was a Shining Cowbird that had parasitised her nest.

    On to the feeders!
There were a few Bananaquits stealing :p

Oh and guess what?! There are Black Phoebes down here, too! That was a surprise. They are slightly different than the ones in the States, though. They have a bit of white bordering their flight feathers.

First Guan sighting! Not a very good photo of the bird, but I've got another one, I think, from the hike out.

Whenever it rained this Jacobin was always out on his stick doing a little rain dance. I guess he was cleaning himself, but he stayed out for a loooong time. We watched him for a good 30 minutes before dinner and left him still dancing. He did the same thing during a few other rainy afternoons, too. Weird!

    Birdies! :yay: Thanks for sharing!
I imagine the noise from all of those hummers in such a small area was deafening.

I went out to check on my short eared owls and at first I didn't find them in their normal field but just as it was getting dark I spotted one sitting on a power pole about 3 miles from where I usually see them. I had already put my camera away as I thought it was too dark for any more shots so no pics. I figure that the babes are big enough to fly a little and they had to move and find new hunting grounds to keep everyone fed and happy.

Also saw a couple of new birds that I may need help ID-ing. I'll get pics up soon.
EDIT: pretty sure one was a common nighthawk
