Nobody is local to me. Only bird rescue we have is the Raptor Center and they only take big birds like hawks and owls.

He's still out there. Same branch.

Can they at least offer you some advice? I wonder if he smacked into something and just needs some time to rest?

In the off chance you want to call, the Wildlife spots in Santa Clara County also have good bird rescues. But being in California, probably not much help to you. Good luck!

Being dazed after an encounter with a window was my other concern.

But...UPDATE... just went out to check on him and he was still on the same exact branch I left him on this morning at 1030. He was chirping and I think I heard someone answer him. He just flew into the tree across the street. I can't see him anymore but I can still hear him chirping. Maybe mom and dad are looking for him after all. I'll leave the water out there for now, if he doesn't want it I'm sure some other birbs will stop by - supposed to be in the 90 all week!

    @MTgirl Thank you!

Some vets will help with (wild) birds and other critters. Or know of a place.
You obviously did the right thing.

I know that interfering can sometimes do more harm than good. But I also knew that the little guy couldn't stay out in the middle of my driveway all day. Dogs and cats around....being out in the hot sun.... I just wanted him so have a safer spot to perch and rest. So once he was in the tree I figured that was best.
Hope mom and dad found him, bad storm been moving through the last hour.

Sorry I'm late to this, haven't checked this thread in a while. You did probably the best thing you could have done. At that age when they are just learning to fly, they frequently run into trouble. Windows impacts are common, but they can just have a hard landing on flat ground. If it's hot they can easily overheat, all kinds of things. Putting it in a safe place as close as possible to where you find it is usually best. Touching it is perfectly OK, and will NOT cause the parents to reject it. Giving it some water sure doesn't hurt anything either. All birds are real good at calling to their parents, and the parents are good at finding them. The fledging period is a dangerous time for birds. It likely would have died if you had left it in the middle of the driveway. You gave it a second chance.

This past weekend I was hunted by a pigeon. It seemed to fall out of the sky into the grass. I walked into my garage and it all but followed me in and sat on my truck. I got him to fly out and lands on the other garage. He sat there for about 20mins, moved to the pool then actually flew at my son in the pool. Onto the deck umbrella and spied on me. Cant make this up.

Looks like a young homing pigeon. Domestic, so probably fairly tame. I can't tell from the photos, is it banded? Probably wandered too far from his loft and got lost. It's not uncommon for young homers to do that. Pigeon fanciers call it "tripping"

I've been keeping an eye out but I haven't seen him since. Or any other Waxwings. I hope the little guy is OK. Some neighbors have a couple of feeders and a bird bath, been wanting to ask them if they maybe saw some around recently but they're never out in their yard/garden when I'm walking by. IF anybody else in my hood would know or care about him it would be those folks!

Took this a couple of days ago. Kinda concerning because he/she was on the base of the tree for about a 1/2 an hour having supper.

It's a huge pine that could take out one of four or five houses if it goes. One of which is mine.

    Some really cool shit
Forgot to post this back in July. Not great shots. Still leaning my camera. Sorta. Taking pictures of hawks in my backyard. During editing I saw this. What? So much bigger than the redtails. Had to ask a friend what this is.

    h8.jpg

Looks like the bird has tethers on it;s legs, streaming behind. Kept bird? Falconer maybe?

    h10.jpg

I was told it's a juvenile Golden Eagle.

The aptly-named Scissor Tailed Flycatcher in a live oak - these birds are fairly common outside the major city centers in TX. Look at the deep colors under his wings - getting a shot of this bird from below while its wings are open is the prize winner:
