Ended up biting the bullet and getting a 2018 SR 4x4. I really enjoyed my 2012 TRDOR and would have gotten another OR but I did some soul searching. I realized I could count on one hand how many times I did any serious off roading where the TRD package came in handy. Everything I did with it I did with my 1995 Tacoma 4cyl 4x4. So back to a 4cyl I go! Will say that this 2.7 doesn't feel as underpowred as I was afraid of, in fact it sounds BADASS for a 4cyl! It sounds better than my 4.0, I swear this little motor has a growl to it. You gotta drive one to know what I'm talking about.

Got the SR utility package, I never had anyone ride with me in the back all those years I had a double cab and wasn't going to pay for jump seats I'd never use. This truck needs more speakers though, stocks are bad. Really bad. That can be fixed though and I plan on doing that. Air conditioning isn't all that great either. It's serviceable but it's not going to freeze you out. Wait til it turns 90 or 100 around here and I know I'll have it on full blast all the time whereas other tricks I've had I can leave it on its lowest setting.

Transmission also isn't as bad as I was afraid it would be. Yeah it hunts like hell in town and at the slightest inclice it downshifts but it's ok. I won't bother tuning it, it's good enough. I checked the transmission fluid before I left the dealership too! Good to go. Salesman asked me what I was doing and I explained to him.lol

Seats are way more comfortable than my second gen!

Ride is actually very good. If this is the same ride and shocks the Sport guys have I can see why all the fuss over a Sport. Ride is really good!

Now for numbers. I got them down to $25500, tax was $500 and they had a $299 dealer fee. I made them throw in a Tacoma bed mat for my troubles. They tried to screw me on my trade by $2500. I told them I used their trade in calculator on their own website and they were offering me less than "bad shape" was. When he brought the paper back the first time, I crossed through the trade and wrote my number. Told him he had this one chance and 2 mins or I was gone. He knew I was serious too because I had my keys to my 12 in my hand, no way they could keep me there. They ended up playing ball. Oh and they tried to sell me the extended service contract for $3000. I think they got the hint when I laughed out loud and other customers turned around to look to see what was going on.

Had to go a couple hours from my house to get this bad boy but it was worth it. They gave me a price over the phone so I knew what the numbers were going to be before I got there. All in all I'm happy. Oh and I was already pre-approved through my credit union and they didn't even bother to try to match it.

Nice, I paid $25500 for my SR 4x4 too. Only I live in California, so I paid over 2K in taxes. :boink:

    4 bangers FTW!

Luckily taxes in South Carolina are limited to $500. Where they rape you is the county you live in gets to determine your vehicle "value" and you're liable to be paying $400 A year for this truck. Had one that was $790 a year and they taxes go down sloooowly, like $30-50 a year but they seem to stall after 3 years.

That's why I wore my work clothes. You should have seen the look on the salesmans face when I got on the ground and crawled under there.haha

That's the one thing I wish this truck had, a manual. It's not bad to drive with the automatic, I can't imagine the fun the manual would be!

The manual is fun around town to tool around with but on the highway (loaded or very hilly) its a constant 5th to 4th and repeat process hah I usually just leave it in 4th... These trucks most definitely should have had AT LEAST the 4.3 ring and pinion... no idea why toyota thought the 3.91's were a good idea...

I honestly thought my truck had the 4.30 gears because on the website it listed them, but no gear ratio is on the window sticker. Just says limited slip rear diff.
