Hey folks just trying to get my feet wet on the site. Have appreciated lots of info that has been shared, perhaps I have something to offer in return. I'll just throw out a few pics. They can can lead to a thousand words.
Give me a shout if anything speaks to you.

The build... G2G (Good 2 Go) build for dispersed style camping. Forest road and trail. I'm nearing my retirement hope to take it places.

Sorry folks, again new to the site. Appreciative of all the information shared, perhaps I can share in return.
The pics. Sorry round I had some duplicates. And got a bit frustrated with the small tablet. And not sure just how to edit things yet.
Give me a shout if feel the desire.

Dig the drawer system. Seems to be super intuitive.. But what catches my eye is that shelf bit on the cab-side of the bed. Did you make that?

    I need.

Hyperbarics- I hope you get the reply... New to this site. First off my apologies if it's in the wrong spot, or gets moved.

Before I go to far... Are you referring to the rack at the head of the bed, or the rear seat delete?

Nave - I made the entire structure. I lucked out and found just down the road from me the SnugTop canopy for $500 color matched at that.
It started there. I knew I wanted a roof top tent. Then I knew I didn't. Then I knew I did again. But I had concerns with the fiberglass canopy.

I am not an engineer. There will be the critics. That's cool. The dynamic weight per Snug Top was.... iffy. I also had concern about the static weight of 2 occupants plus the weight of the tent.
I created the legs and upper support first. All the legs tie into the OEM bed side rails - side and forward bed. And are bolted via OEM bolts in the deck. In my opinion my box/tub is held together far beyond 90* brackets at the tail gate.

The roof itself has adjustable feet that screw up to the underside of the canopy to help with static load. ( in my non engineer opinion).
In all of my considerations, from the bed to the ear cabin no harm was done to the truck. It all unbolts.

As for the forward rack, it's holds my RedArc, fuse hub, ARB AC, and water and extra.

Would I like to have an Alu-cab, RDL, canopy etc... Yeah. Then again I read lots of issues of leaks, design etc...
Would I like to have windoors yes.

Hyperbarics, if you are referring to the rear seat delete in the cab... Yes, I made it. Going into it I knew it was a big job.
The aspects of wood joinery were just one element, But the sound deadener, securing it all, the astectics of the bolts used.
I think it took longer for me to think of a approach to it all than to actually do it.
I want to mention there was no harm done to G2G. It all bolts in OEM threaded holes and unbolts.

I was surprised by how much the seats weighed....Heavy. It put me to rest to weld the frame work out of steel. You can see it hangs off the rear cab wall. I found this a constant. The cab floor is so unjulated I found it confusing, even discouraging.
In the rear it hangs off the cab wall. In front, it's secured to the OEM seat hinge holes. It created a level field.

The wood itself.... If you divide the cab in half, it's easy to make a template and use for the opposing side. Essentially, doubling the template. It's true, I welded tabs, and installed nutserts. My frame is secure, my deck is secured to the frame.

The rear panel I like better than the Goose Gear. The plastic cab corner trim has an odd notch. Goose Gear cuts their rear verticle panel to fit inside that odd notch. I chose to float over that with my rear panel and hide the notch in the trim.

The cargo tracks ate all T nutted in place.

    Thanks for your interest.

Very nice build! Looks like you put a lot of thought and planning into it. I’ll be watching your thread for some good ideas!

Agree 100% about the money! Not likely I’ll have anything left for the daughter, grandkids and great grandkids except maybe for a farewell dinner! LOL!
