I really dig how the 3rd gens come with black b-pillars. I decided to try the same look on my truck. What do you guys think? Looks good or nah?

*Note* I got off work late and was dying to try this so I just mocked it up for pics and removed it so I can take my time this weekend.

Funny this comes up, I was just looking at my truck the other day and thinking the same thing.
It looks pretty good IMO. I have some black vinyl floating around here, maybe I will give it a shot.
If not anything it will cover some of the little rust spots that white 2nd gens are famous for getting around the window openings.

That’s the reason why I am doing it too. Kind of getting tired of touching it up with paint. I dig the black a ton.

I think it looks pretty good. It's also good to know others are dealing with the stupid little spots around the windows also. I think I'll try the vinyl first, then consider painting later

Probably, not a bad idea actually... the leading edges pick up a lot of grit and prone to chipping. Mine's black, so not as bad. Especially noticeable on white.

Given how shitty the paint is on our trucks, I am kind of scared to put vinyl on it with any hope of getting it back off later without it removing paint along with it.

I'd still do a prep similar to if I was going to paint to get the rust off first. since it's going to be vinyl for now, just seal instead of painting white

    This.
    Applies to all Toyota paint.
I pulled some of my 30+ year old original paint off my 87 with Harbor Freight blue tape when I masked the A pillars and roof to spray the windshield trim.
    Was PISSED!
Have like 230 rolls of Scotch painters tape, grabbed the one HF roll I have/had around here by accident.
Utterly killed me. Paint made it 30 years only to get screwed up by me trying to make the truck look better.

Oddly, the gas door on my truck is base/clear. Rest of the truck is single stage. No idea what sort of mishap lead to a gas door replacement.

The black b pillar is the one thing I don’t like about the 3rd gen design aside from the engine of course.

I like it . When i had my canyon all the window trim was chrome and i did the exact thing to get rid of it . Bought some 3m wrap and covered it right up3D6C4392-F68E-4D2C-ACCE-8449EFB04CE8.jpg
