I could have used that advice last month outside of Colorado Springs. Being from WI. even some of the roads are crazy there. Unfortunately I did % of the driving there and anytime I even came close to checking out something other than the road I got slapped by the wife LOL. First time I’ve ever in the 39 years I’ve known her that I seen her spooked.
Headed back out the 22nd of July for more fun.

I believe that was one of them. My trail map is in my trail bag so I don’t forget it and have to buy another one. They definitely had some pucker factor built into them. It’s a whole different world out there.
Still haven't figured where we are going in July. Have to stay around Fort Carson off and on as the grandson is going to be there shooting competition in International Skeet.

Savage snow fall. Were headed out that way in a few weeks. Hopefully a few of these open up by then.

    Hey guys.

What's a realistic time to complete this run?

Do you all think it will be open and clear by August?

Any suggestions where to RTT camp near this location?

    Thanks, Mark

Same question about total drive time, but just from Ouray to Tellurude via Imogene?

Damn snow better be melted in 3 weeks...

If my maps are correct, the area around Imogene is public land. What are the restrictions on camping?

Our temps are up this week......but

north facing snow drifts are very slow to melt at high elevation

Going over or around them can get ya into big trouble....

    or dead over a ledge

I was up hiking yesterday above Purgatory. Snow covered trails in spots. I haven't seen this much snow so deep into the summer.

No way that's a 2.5 hour loop. Plan on 6 hours, which includes a stop in Telluride for a quick lunch, and a few stops for pics at the top of the passes. Traffic will be comparatively heavier in August compared to September.

Thanks for info, traffic that's a funny notion but I believe it.

Any nice RTT camping spots nearby?

That map came from the Forest Service website. Shouldn't be trusted?

    https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprdb5286478.pdf

Wouldn't suprise me, the fs MVUM's for my area show the supposedly accessible roads, but 99% are gated and locked all the time.

Edit: Looks like that map is from a STAY THE TRAIL sponsored brochure:
