Question for you guys. Do you think a stock Tacoma TRD off-road (tires/rims wise) with the TRD lift kit can make it through those trails pretty easily?

I'm planning on doing a camping trip out West and I need to prioritize what I'm upgrading.

Thanks! To put it in perspective I live right near Pittsburgh PA and there aren't many trails besides an off-road course I'll be taking in the spring to test things out and get some practice in.

On the Western (downhill) side of Black Bear there are switch backs that require multiple point turns. It is much easier with an auto transmission.

Both of our trucks are stock with the exception of winches, but we never had to winch.

Black Bear pass isn’t much practice. You’ll see Subaru’s and Honda Pilots up there and around imogene pass. What makes it “difficult” is just the exposure. It’s a cool road for sure.

The shame of it all is that they may try to close the pass. Time will tell. Constantly fighting trail closures in CO

Not seeing the sighn is not a good enough excuse. I expect for the majority of those trails to be closed before i ever get a chance. Its a shame

The Tacos were a little long to really square up with the steps showing the downside of stock IFS. Solid axles with a 100” WB and 35s would simplify the trail a bunch. The end of the steps turning onto the shelf above the falls is scary as hell for me. In a stock rig the switchbacks are more than a multi point turn. No problem if they were flat, but the inside of the turns is darn near a ledge.
