Seems like the availability of these wheels have become easier to get now because in the past there were only replicas available on Ebay but now seems like there are more and more genuine ones listed.

I wonder if Toyota has finally relaxed there policy on not selling these to Non-FJ owners?

My local Toyota dealer ordered me a set on Tuesday and I had them installed Friday. Thought I was going to have to go the eBay route, but I stopped at the dealer just to take a shot and see if they could order them and get close on price and parts had no problem ordering them up and installing them for me.

so, any truth to this 'now it's easier to get the coveted FJ rims' rumour? i was kind of hoping the furvor would die down and there would be more opportunities to get teh wheels.

Like I said, I got black special edition trail teams directly from my local Toyota dealership and didn't get any sort of resistance and compared to what I am seeing online for prices, I think they were very competitive and didn't try to gouge me.

Got me, but from what I have read on here, at one point they were not letting them out unless you had an FJ and had the vin to prove it.

I think it was a Toyota corporate thing, not at the dealership level. I read threads on here where the parts department made the order but then the warehouse denied it after the fact.

I think the Anthracite wheels are the only ones being "restricted" by Toyota now. Could be wrong but that's what I read earlier.

Those look really nice Peto48, but yes in the past Toyota was restricting sales of the Black and Anthracite wheels but it looks like they are finally getting smart and accepting the orders. I recently just ordered a set from my dealer where as in the past, I was denied as early as last year.

Thanks Howser. I am very pleased with how it turned out. I thought they were actually very reasonably priced especially for a dealership. Your dealership give you a good deal?

Yeah, I paid around 160 per wheel and now shopping for tires. I was debating between the Hankook Dynapro's or the Cooper ATP's but those AT3's look pretty bad a$$ too.

I like the AT3's. They were a good balance of having a semi aggressive look and deep tread pattern but still suited for my driving needs. Mostly pavement, but also good wet traction as well as in the snow up New York.

What dealer did you buy them from that is a really good price. I also live in the Midwest, suburb of Chicago.

My dealer told me last week he needed an fj vin for them, but I'm pretty sure the parts counter guy was just being lazy. I had to find the part number for him etc. I ordered from a Toyota dealer on eBay, frank motors I think, somewhere in California.

I tried the dealer route for the Anthracite TRD wheels to see if Toyota had possibly revoked their hold on those wheels. It was a no go. Had to have a VIN number, etc. Didn't ask about the black TRDs as I wanted the anthracite ones or none. Don't know why the black versions would be made available and not the anthracite ones. Worth a try I guess.

thanks for looking in to this. i was wondering the same thing. i had a feeling there would still be problems with the anthracites. i'm with you - anthracite or nada. i don't have the cash now anyway but if i find myself by a dealer in the Seattle area i'll ask about anthracite.

I checked for the Anthracites at two different dealers in Philly and it was a no-go both places...both asked for a VIN. Both dealers also offered me the Black wheels with no VIN.
