looks awesome, looking forward to seeing the wiring when it's done

how well does that magnet hold the phone? I'm between something like this and one of the ones that physically grab the phone

I would recommend allen heads, not phillips due to the thread locking feature.

Finally got around to installing mine this evening. Very nice piece! And the install video was quite helpful.

The magnet holds really well. I put the metal strips on the inside of a very thin case (www.buypeel.com), so they might not be as good inside a thicker case, and you might have issues with the charging with a thicker case. They're supposed to be stuck directly onto the phone if you don't use a case, or otherwise on the back of the case itself. I have no concerns at all about it coming off while driving on road. I'd guess it would be fine off-road, but haven't tried.

I searched the internet for a 12v hardwire type c usb wire to power the Choeteck. I wanted to go straight to the fuse block but couldn't find a type c hardwire.

I was thinking of some allen head set screws, something that would still leave a smooth surface for the most part and leave it looking factory with the ball mounts removed.

They need lower regulated voltage/amps. That's why I did it this way.

I put a 12 volt socket inline with the center console chargers. Added a qualcomm3.0 rapid charger then routed the cable behind the DMM thru a notch. Works awesome and I can swap it out with different cables as technology changes. Currently have two usb C ran to the DMM

Just got my DMM and before I tear everything out I only want to this once so I haven't settle on power arrangements yet. It looks like I'm going with the Choetek (as Dozer711 has). With the DMM I think having 2 power cords routed thru the dash is the way to go, just haven't decided what usb power wires to use.
You got a web link to your Qualomm? Tried goggling it and came up with all sorts of chargers.

Get some USB c cables and the adapters for other stuff.

Honestly the pulling it apart is easy.

The center console pops out easily and the radio trim is 2 seconds.
If I need more it's all expandable in a few minutes.

Anybody that's looking to get a phone charger for the DMM and needs a 17 mm by 25 mm adapter check your phone holder that you might have now before you go and buy one like I did, the arkon phone holder that I bought with the DMM has a 17 mm by 25 mm ball adapter on it.20190106_143805.jpg 20190106_143655.jpg

just what I needed, I too have the S9 with an Otterbox, and the factory wireless charger does not really work well for me.

So I ordered the choetech, and thanks to your tip about the ball adapter below. was able to get everything installed today. and It works very well. I like the one handed release a lot better than the X mount I picked up at the truck stop over Christmas.

I also added some 10-32 x 1/2" button head cap screws to the unused holes on the DMM.

PM'd FreshMexicanTaco yesterday and the day before - I ordered the DMM and a couple of balls and arms (seem like a body part discussion!). Got the arms and balls, but the DMM was only a plate. Didn't get the parts bag with bottom plates and screws as mentioned on his install video.

Expensive metal strip for $50.... The bar is useless without the parts bag. There's nothing else in the rolled bubble wrap (that's what the black plate came in).
