    I did this last year and the payment came via check pretty quickly. I am not sure why they don't do it like a regular discount it is strange.

    My exact thoughts.

    BD offers a rebate, seen as being in the holiday spirit, customer excited and purchases at a "discount", customer forgets or can't be hassled with following through, BD doesn't have to send back any cash.
