Got the black headlight mod done and I gotta say I don’t understand everyone overhyping how hard this is. It was quite simple to open the housings paint everything and reseal them. The lights have been on my truck for about a week in portland Oregon and it has rained everyday since going on and there is still no moisture in them. Very pleased with the results. Now I have my factory units out with only 3k miles on them and I will be doing those with a full retrofit once I have lift and tires done.

How long did you heat them for? Thinking of nutting up and doing that soon

300 degrees for 10 minutes reheats same temp for 2-3 minutes at a time. Popped open fairly easy. Removing the permaseal from the channel is kind of a pain but really more time consuming than anything. I got cheap lights with a broken tab each off eBay to try it first and it went really well so I’ll actually spend money on parts for my nice factory lights

Definitely painting the projectors lense ring that you can see through the bezel some angles on the next set. Small details.

Light pitting on the lenses but I got them for $50 a side shipped! Totally worth it to practice, and be able to take my time with my factory units when I do them eventually. I really really want to do them up with rx350 projectors profile pixel drl boards and 80mm halos but I can’t justify spending $600 plus dollars on headlight parts when I don’t have a lift, wheels, or tires. Sliders will come before the retrofit too. But at least I have my crispy ones off the truck staying nice for when the time is right.
