I think the dealer you visited is at partly at fault here as well; they failed to advise you that you could end up blacklisted if you were to sell back your 6AT Pro.

The crazy part of the whole thing is I had a broker want to buy it from me for 5k more. He was going to send it south of the boarder. I didn’t want to be in a situation like this so I let the dealer have it.

It's very unfortunate OP; do you have any lawyer friends you can talk to for potential resolution or recourse? It sucks but I think you should reconsider owning a Toyota for now. It seems like a very big, administrative hurdle to cross.

There is no such thing as Toyota the dealership. Separate entity, which is not Toyota, but has a contract with Toyota, permitting them to sell Toyotas. Separate entities I should say, from single dealers to huge national dealership conglomerates.

I’m actually still not clear if it was Toyota or the dealership that black listed the OP.

It’s defiantly not the end of the world. But still seems crazy to me. If I legitimately was buying and selling for a profit I wouldn’t care I would just move on to the next one. I’m sure if the 6MT I had an allocation for didn’t get cancelled and it actually got built it may have been able to happen then.

That is very interesting, what’s the consequence if you did and how would that even be known or enforced?

Seems like the dealer did not know or failed to notify OP that he would be blacklisted after selling his 6AT Pro back. Toyota Canada Corporate went in and blacklisted him; see his posts on talking to corporate customer service.

Toyota Canada did. The dealer is there to sell vehicles.

I have heard of this before. People were buying siennas and sending them to China. In my case I let them buyout my lease with Toyota financial and it was theirs. I believe the GM was driving it for a few months. I don’t even know if they sold it or for how much. I don’t really care.

    Like, so many.
Keep an eye out on a Ford or GM lot. There’s a 22 sitting on a Nissan lot near my house right now. You’re options will be more limited, but you’ll find a Tacoma

I do wonder that if for some reason OP gets a Tacoma elsewhere, would his warranty be valid or get nulled by corporate? Seems pretty petty but its within the realm of possibilities as he is not a 'valid customer' to Toyota for the time being.

Black balled! I’d have to go back and review the terms. So short I didn’t really care enough at the time of signing (there’s a sucker born everyday, I know).

They are out there for sure. It’s bad enough paying msrp. I’m not going to pay more than msrp for a used truck.

Thats brutal OP. Hope it gets sorted and you can find your way into a 22/23 6MT. Patiently waiting for my dealers allocation of a 6MT.

I’m pretty sure they would void the warranty for everyone. You can’t buy new and export. Has to be 6 months or older. That’s why we have the crazy short 6 month lease on some domestic trucks in Canada. In house deals.

They won’t stop the dealers from doing stuff like that but someone like me sells back to them because Toyota Canada cancels my 6MT allocation I get screwed.

Corporate endorses the blacklist strategy. Note my earlier post.

Well OP, if you’re looking at alternatives… my mom just bought this (family of off-road enthusiasts). 6m, 2022 Wrangler Rubicon. Man… its really nice. Drives like a dream on 35MTs.
