Back in the 80's we ran all over the trails at Livingston on dirt bikes!

We have 6 Tacoma's for certain, and MAYBE a Jeep XJ.... Plan is to stay on the green and blue trails for the most part. (Easy) I'm not into body damage either. Come on with us! Meet us at Putney trail head around 8AM Saturday morning.....

Ok cool. I need to be at the campground before 5 to pay cash so they don't charge me extra for using a card lol. If I don't go down Thursday I'll roll with y'all. Are you coming through Bardstown taking hwy 150?

I just called the campground. he said there's no way they will fill up the tent camping, and they just charge per tent/camper, not site. he also said we could use area 3... apparently there's a nice plateau with picnic tables and out houses.

Can we get a headcount of who's camping?

I've never been that far down on 150. Is it good road? We like scenic drives. Can't see much on an interstate @ 80mph. May be persuaded to go 150!

From Btown to Springfield is 1 lane, 55mph, can be slow pending traffic. Springfield to Perryville to Danville is a good road now that they redid it several years ago. Can roll 60+ if no traffic. Danville to Mt. Vernon is pretty smooth sailing too. Unless you get behind a line of traffic no reason you won't be rolling 60 or more between towns. Hwy. 150 all the way to I75.

Springfield to Danville is a pretty scenic drive with rolling hills and farm land. Lots of big houses to look at on the east side of Perryville in to Danville. Danville to Mt. Vernon is rolling farmland too.

    Then it's settled! 150 to I 75! We'll leave Mt Washington @ 11AM, then through B-Town!

I think you'll enjoy it. Interstates are boring and I don't think you'll save any time going 64.

Lets talk food.. Is anyone camping wanting to have campfire meals or fend for yourselves?

I usually cook something good for breakfast and dinner and grab a sandwich for lunch. I usually fend for myself but I'm open to group meal suggestions.

sorry, didn't mean to rain on your parade... probably better if we have a larger area where everyone can hang out though since it might get pretty tight with a camper, two tents, and the hotel folks, plus stragglers....

for food I was planning on bringing what I need for myself and sharing my propane stove if it was needed. I may have some extras but I haven't started packing and probably won't until Thursday :anonymous:

anyone bringing wood? know of a local place to buy wood? I'm sure there's something around...

So I just called the campground and the guy that answered didn't seem to give a damn if I switched sites and said I would get my money back for the RV site. So I'll probably post up in the primitive area so we can all be together and spread out.

I haven't packed yet either but the camping essentials are ready to rock. Sleeping arangrments, cooking supplies, coolers etc. Need to pack clothes, pick up food, water, bourbon etc and I'll be set.

For firewood we usually try to pick up deadfall along the trail if possible.

I drive interstates enough going to and from work. Always ready to hit the side roads. Only interest in them was to cover ground in a hurry. We're close enough to the Snyder that 465 to 64 to 75 isn't as far out of the way as it would be for you. But....That's why we're driving down on Friday....so we aren't rushed. Last years Harlan trip was a one day trip. So 10 hours on the highway and 9 hours on the trail, to and from was in pouring rain and dark. Made for one LOOOOOONG day. This way we can get started early Saturday, be rested, and no pressure to leave early to get home that night.

If Sandy wasn't working this week, I'm ready to leave NOW!

Last year we had a virtual tailgate buffet with us! We're going a little more conservative this year. We'll have (FREE!) breakfast at the hotel on Saturday and Sunday, lunch packed in a cooler for eating on the trail, and we'll "wing it" on dinner that evening. Sandy is the chef....She sets the menu. I just eat it! It's easier that way! We will most likely have dinner in the campground Friday evening, but that's up to the chef too.

At one point, early on in the planning, I was thinking about hauling a grill with me and doing a cook out on Friday night. Then we saw a brand new Ford Raptor burn to the ground in the parking lot of Kentucky Motor Speedway when a grill caught fire in the bed.....Grill stays at home....

ouch, hope they had good insurance. I'm also packing lunches but I think I'll also bring hot dogs for over the camp fire and buns for the group and some chips if anyone else wants to bring some side dishes, snacks and beverages we'd have a pretty good group cookout.

The grill lit up the Raptor which then spread to 5 MORE vehicles. This was the Xfinity race the night before the June NASCAR Cup race....I'm sure there were some shocked race fans when they went to leave that night.
