I used plasti dip to see if I liked it and to see how high up I wanted to go if I was going to come back and make it permanent with bedliner. Took a little while to remove from around the areas where the bolts were at the bottom. Not sure if first gens are like that too.

I'd say black out the bumpers and maybe and some black fender flares.

My truck is black and eventually my bumpers will be black too. I Don't like the chrome bumpers.

If you want it to look right, it needs the black flares to tie.

Since I'm not a black out fan, if you are looking for protection, I'd just do that area with white Monstaliner www.monstaliner.com

If you really want it black, I'd use that product as well, include the front and rear bumpers and then add the flares (untreated)

Rather than mess with the chrome bumper, just find someone to swap a black one with you, do the labor and buy you a steak dinner to compensate for the higher value of the chrome.

Do the new bumper with Monstaliner on the inside prior to mounting as well, to gain rust protection.

If you ever added sliders or steps, again, same product.

I've used rustoleum bedliner at $8 a can on a lot of things including my grill and wheels and it holds up great. I always clear coat after with Rustoleum 2x clear so it cleans more easily. If it ever gets really dirty and hard to make look new again I just spray some Trimshine on it and it looks new again.

Lol that's crazy how much of a price difference there is. How much does regular spray paint cost up in Canada?

Man sorry to hear that. Auto paint rattle cans are about the same here too though. Regular rattle cans like krylon or rustoleum are anywhere from like $3-5 though.

Something to keep in mind: if you don't run flares rock chips tear right through plastidip.

I dipped a stripe on my rear quarter and rocks thrown by the tires have made several holes/tears in the past 3 months.
