No-Lux looks great guys. I went the plasti dip route myself, but both look great in my opinion. I understand the fear of taking "paint" to a brand new truck, but honestly, you cant hurt anything. Give it a try sometime on the wifes car, lol.... For 5$ it is worth getting a feeling for how easy it is. Peals right off if you make a mistake. I just did all my badges and bumpers on my TRD-OR.

I wasn't scared of paint, just didn't want to remove them from the truck. Masked around them with tape, gave them a few coats, then my wife sat in front of them with a wooden spudger (some sort of makeup tool) and cleared out between the letters and the enclosed spaces (A, O). Once she was done it looked perfect. 2 years later I have a few specs of chrome showing up so it may be time for a re-coat, or may just try a touch up with a cotton swab.

    i live in florida.

i started to plasti dip ( its sunny )

and after 1.5 coats it starts sprinkling.....

ive read plasti dip wont peel if you dont have enough coats on.

should i keep painting, say 3 more coats and peel it off to start again?

or with this minimal amount on there will it just wipe off?

ill keep us posted, this has JUST happned. just wondering what i should do

I was going to remove and paint my badges black (minus the V6, that was always gonna stay off..). Got them all off in about 10 minutes and liked the look so much I didn't even bother painting and putting them back on. Truck looks much cleaner this way IMO, especially with the TRD sticker removed from the tailgate - just looks cheap.

IMO $100 is way to much money when you can get the paint and new adhesive for <$20 on a mod that really doesn't take much knowledge or effort to do. Some people might opt for the easy way on this one, which in this case has a higher cost associated to it.

I didn't even leave the dealer with my bed stickers. Got them to remove them at the time of sale.

plasti dip for me, couldnt justify the cost for the overlays. and when i emailed them they only had the whole set and ouldnt break it down. i needed only the tacoma door badges and the v6 on the tailgate

I decided to go the overlay route I thought about the plastic dip way and it's cheap and easy as well if I had it to do over I would have probably went with the plastic dip way but the overlays look extremely good to me and I can't see any of the chrome my only complaint is the price for such thin plastic but there not coming off and all I used was the ones for the doors I removed the chrome v6 badge on the tailgate and installed a black 4x4 badge and a black TRD badge it all matches perfectly over all I'm happy with the way it turned out no regrets looks good to me .

Plasti dip and some patience is all you need. Save that $100 for another mod

got my emblems painted, im happy with it :dancingbacon:

but now i have a silly question.......how do theese hubcaps come off?

ive gotten a flathead under it, but dont want to prey to hard.....so i dont break anything.

i thought, maybe i should take the lugs off.....but the tire iron supplied with the truck is to fat to get on the fake chrome lugs......

lol maybe it will better to just dip them while installed on the truck?
thanks again for all the advice

ah hahhhh, i got them off.

haha looks like there in 5 little tabs in the inside you can undue with you hands.

.........although i kind of like the steel wheels underneath the plastic chrome hubcaps.......i might just dip the steel wheel its self

    Like, so many.
Dipped my badges. It's super easy. Also did my bumper. Did my grille before I got a new one. Did my wheels at one point. If you mess up, start over. It's super easy.

I have a Nox Lux blackout kit for my 2017 TRD OR.......however I just received it late last month and the temps have already dropped below 70 degrees. The installation instructions advise you not to put them on if the temp is below 70 degrees..........will I have to wait until spring?

Or could I pick a day when the temps will be around 60 degrees and maybe heat the badges up with a hair drier a bit or something? How would I go about doing this? Does anyone have any advice or experience with this issue?
