1/4 wide blue painters tape. you can actually work pretty tight rounded corners with this stuff. then put bigger tape over it and spray the outer edge. This is what we did to mask of rounded edges when i was in the Navy painting F/A-18s

Should I use Krylon Fusion Gloss Paint or should I go with VHT Niteshades then a little clear over the outlined area?

we painted a 1/4" flat black edge to hide the cut marks in the lens.
if you lightly tint the whole lens, the pink hue will disappear.

the led mod would be mostly the same. as far as the led's- on the inside of the housing where the brake light bulb goes in if you look in the hole you will see 2 tabs opposite of each other. use a long flat tip screw driver to pop the tabs loose. thats what holds the large round led module in place. on the back side of that piece 6 phillips screws hold the led circuit board to the led housing. i circled where the tab is at.

Finally someone did this! I was looking for a legal way to have black tails. I'm not sure I like the reflectors untinted. The led lights look pretty good. IDK what I'm going to do. Nobody makes a light for the Tacomas that I really like. Great job though man! Props

Finished these up this weekend. Hosed them down a few times and no water has made it in, and no moisture from sitting outside at night. So far so good, here are the only pics I was able to snap this morning before heading to work.

I'm glad they are done too, they've been nothing but a pain. Between busting a dremel  and ordering an extra set of tails just for clear lenses I think I've put enough money into these. They better just not start fogging up anytime soon because I'm done messing with them.

Damn, I might have to get a set of LED taillights off an 09 and do this! Nice work guys!

Is that black border around the perimeter of the taillight to hide imperfections from the cuts?

personally, i'm not a big fan. looks too much like the older subaru forester tail lights. i like tinting better.
