How come the black trim around the outside side windows and back window get so spotty and shitty looking, you can clean and clean and black residue comes off but you still have the lighter blotches in it, any body come up with a way to restore this rubber trim. None of my non toyota vehicles does this.

Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant from Autogeek is the best I've found. Wipe on, wipe off. Repeat in 24 hours. And then you should be good for a few months. It's one of the best trim sealants out there. The window trim you speak of is finicky. It doesn't absorb product like other trim. But a double or triple application with some cure time in between seems to be the best solution.

Expensive but a little goes a long way (also available on Amazon). The trim needs to be cleaned very well with an all purpose cleaner before application of the Sealant.

You'll need a rubber conditioner and sealer. Something to prevent it from cracking due to UV exposure.

But you cannot really restore damaged trim. You have to do your best to prevent the damage to begin with.

It seems to me this from dried up water after it rains. Doesn't appear the water drains or runs off very well from the rubber trim. I had to scrub the shit out of mine and use a dedicated rubber cleaner to get them back in shape. I was able to get rid of the blotches. Since my truck has some age on it, I coated the trim with a ceramic coating. Will see if it works or if I am just pissing in the wind.

Actually there are some good trim restore products out there. These are the two I see most mentioned. There's also this. Generally applied first to restore color, then its sealed with something like dLux.

    Have you used this??

The powdercoat is failing on my power running boards. I'm looking for something to cover it up.

It's for black plastic and vinyl. I don't think it would do much for failing powdercoat. But I've not used it myself. I've just read a lot about it over on AG. Most recommend applying then sealing it with something else.

There are a ton of threads about it over on AG. Here's a sampling:
    http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...h-solution-dull-faded-plastic-vinyl-trim.html
    http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-detailing-101/102477-dlux-over-solution-finish.html
    http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/100022-solution-finish-rescue.html
    http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/product-reviews/80643-solution-finish.html

Another note about the previously mentioned Wolfgang Exterior Trim sealant-- just a few drops will be enough for a windshield cowel, for example. And 2 or 3 drops for trim on one window. It's oily and spreads a long way. So, when you see the price tag on 4oz., that's why. That bottle will go a long way.

I am not sure yet, I bought it to put on the new truck when I get it.

You think GoJo would take paint sealant off black plastic? I got some on the black bed rail caps last summer and the darn stuff never started looking white till it got cold. I tried a pink eraser I bought from Walmart on a little spot this morning but it never took it off. It was 17 degrees out also so I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not.

It will be impossible to keep it off the paint. Probably just going to have to live with it.

McKee's Wax Remover For Plastic is a decent product. Spray, dwell, spray, lightly scrub with a soft bristled brush (some trim/plastics can handle some abuse).

You can also just use APC. I'd wait until right before you apply your next coat of sealer. Then get it done all in one shot. I don't think there's any product that will leave a wax or sealer untouched (after all, that's what we are asking the product to do). And it's a lot thinner on paint than it is gunked up and white on the trim.

(I know you prob know this already, but I put it here for others)

I love that stuff. Used to use it when I worked on a drilling rig years ago drilling geological exploration holes. I can still smell it! But I've only used it on my hands!
