This is my first DIM (did it myself) mod on my truck. I blacked out the badges and it turned out great! I used a plastic putty knife to get the badge epoxy off. I applied the 3M tape first then painted the badges. This color paint matches my truck almost perfect! It just has a bit more shine, and is textured paint. All in all, I was extremely pleased with my finished product. I ended up doing the Toyota emblem also!

Thanks! It was a pretty easy project. I do highly recommend using a strong fishing line like others have suggested. That was probably the worst part IMO.

That's SICK, man! I was thinking of plasti-dipping the badges on my MGM, but this may be the way I go now!

Did you use adhesion promoter ahead of the paint?

No, I just cleaned them and sprayed the fusion paint on. I didn't rough the surface or anything. Keep in mind though, that this is a textured paint so you will have a "rough" look when you spray it on. I'll try and get a pic of the Toyota decal on the grill also.

Thats the same paint I used. It does look great, but it will start chipping off soon if you didnt use adhesion promoter. Its easy to redo them though.

Looks good! I did mine some time ago. Shot an epoxy primer on 'em and then rattle-canned satin black. Ditched the door emblems, though. Too much hassle getting those re-aligned.
