    Has anyone taken apart the side mirror to black the chrome out? If so, how'd you do it. What's it look like. If no body as done it...this is probably going to be my weekend project to figure out. Tired of the chrome.

    Are you sure that's not a blinker in there?

    The outer shell pops off. I removed mine and vinyl wrapped it black. I don't think you will be able to "black out the chrome" because the turn signal is sealed. Why would you want to anyway? It would reduce the visibility of the led light, increasing risk of someone not seeing you when changing lanes/turning/etc. But to each his own.
    here is how it came apart and what the signal looks like;

    Yes...it is the blinker. It's not that I want block the light, as much as I don't like seeing it in chrome when I walk up to my truck. I'd either want to tint it or black out the backing.

    It's obviously for looks and my 69 Olds doesn't have any side markers and looks pretty cool as well, so I'm thinking it's really not a big deal to me. Extra safety I suppose is nice, but I never trust the other drivers anyways. Lol

    Thanks Mesojdm for the photos. It sounds like I'm going to either need to take apart the blinker (not sure that's a great idea) or just find some tint to put over the blinker. If anyone else has any ideas, I'm open.

    I also need to do my headlights. Probably going to wait for the 2017 TRD Pro ones to come out.

    I would check with the laws in your state. There might be a rule about blocking factory lights.

    This....
    Its sort of like the third brake light law in my state. You are not required to have it if the vehicle didn't come with it factory, but if it did come with it factory it must be operational and visible. So, even though there are numerous cars without it on the road, if you have one and its not working or visible you can get a ticket.
    I am not sure about the turn signals in the mirror, haven't researched that one yet.

    wow forgot about this post. Well, I am doing the opposite of what I said a year ago about tinting them.
    I am tinting them.
    BUT....also doing LED strip retrofit behind it for ultimate light.
    Tip: You should only black-out a safety device IF you make it brighter:thumbsup:

    @Istan STart on the outside edge by the glass. Just pull hard, that is where 1 of the plastic clips are.

    BTW these things are sealed shut and the chrome is MOLDED to the inside clear lens. =PITA

    Does anyone know if the 2016 4Runner TRD Pros came with side mirror blinkers? If not I want to see if the 2017 versions can be installed; of course, if the wiring harness is equipped for it.

    Any information on this would be awesome.
