    4.56 is fine. I wouldnt go 4.88s unless i had at least a 9" housing

    Just wondering why would you want the 9inch other than being stronger. Is it because the 4.88 pinion would be bit bigger?

    The taller the gear, the weaker the ring gear gets.

    WAY more options.
    Thanks to nascar, you can get 9" gears ratios in increments of almost every 2-3% from 3.10's to 6.50's
