So I'm looking for help and advice on my project. 3 days ago I got a black TRD Off Road and I'm looking to black it out entirely. Budget isn't endless so looking for cheap alternatives, and DIY tips from you all. I'm not only new to TW, I'm new to being a Toyota owner or a truck owner. Windows go black on Wednesday.

Below is a list of items I need advice on:

-Rear Chrome Bumper - I hate it! How do I get rid of the ugly chrome?

-Front Grill - Everyone has TRD Pro which I do like unless there is better-looking options.

-Decals - I'm sure a can of Plasti-Dip is the cheapest but how does it look? Does it get on the paint? How else can I black them?

    - Rear Tail Lights - Is there a way to smoke these or do I have to replace them?

    - Front Headlights - Is there a way to disassemble the headlights and smoke them or do I need to replace these as well?

    - Of course, it's going up 2" front 1" rear. hopefully I can find some TRD Pro rims (anyone have any cheap or knock offs, let me know)

    Appreciate everyone's help.

Unique style racing has heads and tails

You can paint, put covers, or buy the non painted rear bumper ends.

You can also buy OEM emblem covers and your pretty much set with most all that stuff.

Pro grille is nice but the price of the TSS sensor garnish is outrageous now.

Bumper can be painted or you can buy covers to go over them. Bumper shellz
Grill paint or there are plenty after market ones.
I took off every decal I had on the truck. You can also, paint or get blacked out covers for them
You can find tail lights online or custom blacked out ones around. You can also tint them with vinyl???
Head lights can be painted and there are people here who do it for you. BHLM would be a good thing to search in the 3rd gen section

Yep, and unfortunately, I have that sensor... Thanks for the info. Didn't realize I can get just the bumper ends.

Have not tried the plastic dip - I have concerns about how it will hold out over time...

Definitely consider gunmetal or gold wheels with black.

    Paint-matched end caps.

Look around. There are options out there, but the Pro grille is hard to beat.

Remove all decals and badges and leave them off.

    TRD Pro tails.

    BHLM.

Also, you'll want to get MESO turn signals to eliminate the chrome from your side mirrors and maybe Morimoto fogs.

My truck is about as black as it gets. The only remaining chrome is the fake screw heads on my wheels.

I just did this for the wheels as well. Love the look. I like the OR wheel, just didn’t like the the color. For $30 it allows you to spend money else where For the time being.

Also, for the plastidip, I also dipped the bumper caps on my FJ when I first got it. There are some nicks in the paint now that hat I could touch up, but haven’t. I did this in 2014, still look good Otherwise. I also spray painted the door handles, which have held up really well. Those chrome bumper caps would be the first I’d black out. These are two cheaper ways for you.

Another color you may consider is a titanium color - I powder coated the wheels on my C43 in black titanium.

This was the '16 I had before trading in for an '18 OR Prem.

What I did was find the grille online, it was only an insert for the middle part, so it was probably $50. I sanded and painted the trim and rear bumper myself. Removed all badging and spent probably $1500 on the wheels and tires. I didn't do the rear tails or the headlights, the money for the benefit wasn't there for me and I didn't want to take the chance of throwing them in my oven.

I have the same exact truck. I plasti-dipped my while front grill black (about 4 cans), and removed the badges on the sides, as well as the chrome badges on the tailgate.

That looks Killer. 3" lift on 33's? I might try that on the grill.

Nice. I don't know anyone who likes the chrome. Not sure if Toyota has got that memo yet. lol. Did you have to sand the chrome or anything first?

Leveling kit, changed to Heritage grill, switched to amber fog lights, added "raptor" lights to grill, changed all badging to black and added TACOMA lettering to tailgate, added red lettering to door sills ...
I'm almost finished blacking out (matte black) a red sport (still need wheels, tires and exhaust tip). Found almost everything on eBay or Amazon for very reasonable prices. Just found decals for the bed over the weekend so not sure yet of quality. Also added raptor lights in the grill and changed the fog light bulbs to match ... Again on eBay.
