    Making LED Strip Rock Lights

First, I removed the wire pigtail that comes on these cheap chinese LED strips, the solder job is garbage and the wire is too thin.

I soldered on some 18 awg GXL wire that I'll use to power these.

As you can see, there is not much insulation on the back of the LED strips. For this reason and to waterproof my solder points I'm going to coat both sides of the end of the strip with liquid electrical tape.

Next some marine grade adhesive heat shrink to seal it up.

I'll use some adhesive heat shrink to "cap" the other end of the LED strip after I cut it to size.

The adhesive backing on these strips is rubbish and doesn't have enough insulation, so I'll use black silicone adhesive on the underside of the strips.

I positioned the strips so that they are protected by my rock sliders.
