What is everyone's opinion on red shackles for an aftermarket bumper on bbp?

    Heads up!

I bought my 2017 Tacoma TRD OR in BBP last April and I just noticed dramatic clear coat fading on the roof and hood. It's been like a cancer spreading for the last month. Good news though, I brought it in to my Toyota service center and found that this has appeared on other Tacoma's for this year... But only on the BBP's, and only in these specific areas of the vehicle. I bought it in Arizona, brand new. Probably a specific batch of them that went through the manufacturer at the time. Anyways, they took pictures and sent it to their regional service rep for warranty approval. It is being taken care of without a fight, they are going to repaint it and provided me a loaner for the time being. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up just in case you start seeing the same with your babies. Here are some pics of the roof, same is on happening on the hood.image2.jpg image3.jpg

Hopefully, this is fixed for the 2018's.

I don't think it's on all 2017's, otherwise we would be seeing it everywhere and there have been no recalls on it(yet). But yeah, hopefully this is not a problem with other years.

That is nasty looking. Glad my 16 has no such issues after 2.5 years. That looks like a 10 year old vehicle that was never waxed (like my neighbors 2009 Dakota). At least Toyota is taking care of it. I had a 1996 F150 that did that and I ended up just peeling the hood. Looked like sunburned skin peeling off.

Believe me, I was ready to fight because there is no way a vehicle less than a year old should be looking like this. The first thing I got after I bought the truck was a car wash and wax kit from chemical guys. I make sure my truck is clean, this was depressing me when I noticed it. I'm just glad to find out it's nothing that I was doing wrong.

There was a post on Facebook exactly like yours also in Arizona, my bbp is 2017 also purchased in April but I’m in New Jersey so we’ll see when it gets warmer if it’s a heat thing or just luck of the draw

I think that could look pretty cool, especially if you have the yellow fogs on most of the time.

Well that is not at all what you said earlier, lol. I’m sure you can bypass that with a wiring diagram.
